Carlstadt
On Feb. 26, at approximately 3:42 p.m., a trucker at Paradigm Packaging, located at 861 Washington St., said that while he was loading his 1999 Mack truck, someone had removed both IFTA license stickers below the tractor doors.
On Feb. 25, at approximately 4:49 a.m., an employee of Celebration Foods, located at 65 Commerce Road, reported that someone had cut the padlock on the back cargo door of the company’s 2004 Freightliner box truck and stole five Carvel ice cream cakes valued at $15 apiece.
On Feb. 23, at approximately 8:30 a.m., a Carlstadt resident came to headquarters to report someone had defrauded his bank account. The complainant told police the he had made a withdrawal from an ATM at the Chase Bank on Hackensack Street on Feb. 21. Subsequently, the next day, Chase notified him that an unauthorized withdrawal for $800 was made in Philadelphia, PA.
East Rutherford
On Feb. 25, at approximately 9:51 a.m., an East Rutherford man reported that a trailer he operated for Trans World Marketing was stolen from 360 Murray Hill Pkwy. sometime during the previous weekend. The trailer was empty.
Lyndhurst
On Feb. 26, at approximately 6:21 a.m., a patrolman saw that the driver’s side window of a 2005 Honda had been smashed while parked on the 100-block of Page Avenue. The officer ran the plate and then notified the owner who reported that a Garmin Street Pilot GPS unit valued at $1,200 was stolen from the car.
On Feb. 25, at approximately 1:05 p.m., a Hewitt resident parked at the Quality Inn, located at 10 Polito Ave., reported that the driver’s side door lock was punched and the plastic trim around the lock’s cylinder was damaged on his 2007 Ford pickup. Missing from inside was a Garmin Nuvi 660 GPS unit.
On Feb. 24, at approximately 9:31 a.m., a Ridgeway, PA resident reported a theft from his 2006 Hummer while it was parked at the Courtyard by Marriott, located a 1 Polito Ave. The complainant reported that a $1,500 Panasonic DVD/GPS/CD combo radio and $400 Sony Cyber-shot digital camera were stolen. Entry to the vehicle was made by punching the driver’s side door lock.
On Feb. 23, at approximately 11:23 p.m., a Rutherford resident reported the theft of a $200 iPod and rubber armband from his 1999 Ford pickup while it was parked at the Quality Inn, located at 10 Polito Ave. The vehicle was left unlocked.
On Feb. 23, at approximately 10:39 a.m., a woman shopping at ShopRite, located at 540 New York Ave., reported that while shopping, someone had stole her purse while it was left unattended for just a moment’s time. Store employees quickly checked the ladies room as another stolen purse had been found there earlier in the week. While in the bathroom, an employee saw a woman in an occupied stall rummaging through a purse and stuffing its contents in her jacket. The woman, 43-year-old Maria Vella of North Arlington exited without a purse and was asked to empty her pockets, where the victim’s money and belongings were found. Vella first denied the theft, but then admitted to both that day’s theft and the one earlier in the week, according to police. She was arrested and charged with theft and possession of stolen property.

On Feb. 22, at approximately 4 p.m., a victim on Fifth Street off of Jauncey Avenue reported unknown actors stole a license plate from a 1988 Oldsmobile while parked in front of a residence overnight.
On Feb. 28, at approximately 11:17 p.m., a victim reported a theft from a vehicle while parked at the Bowl-O-Drome at 200 Schuyler Ave. Unknown actors smashed the driver’s side window of the vehicle and stole a pair prescription glasses and its carrying case, valued at $150.
Rutherford
On Feb. 27, at approximately 11:35 a.m., an employee at Stadium Auto Mall on Route 17 reported a rim and a tire were stolen from a 2008 Ford in the lot. Together they were valued at $600.
On Feb. 27, at approximately 11:01 a.m., a Florida resident reported someone stole his bike from the bike rack outside the Rutherford Public Library sometime between 10:15 and 10:55 a.m. The bike was valued at $400.

East Rutherford
On Feb. 26, at approximately 4:15 p.m., police responded to a report that a man, later identified as Francesco Carisi of East Rutherford, was attempting to sell a pair of Tiffany earrings on Park Avenue near the intersection of Paterson Avenue. When officers approached Mr. Carisi and asked how he obtained the earrings and whether he had a permit to sell them, Carisi became visibly nervous and placed his hands in his pockets. When he was instructed to bring out his hands, one contained a small object wrapped in a paper towel. Though Mr. Carisi refused to turn over the packet voluntarily, officers were able to recover it, and discovered a glassine bag filled with white powder and labeled with the word "HENNESY" in red letters. Carisi claimed the earrings belonged to his girlfriend, but was unable to provide a contact number for her. He was charged with possession of heroin and released on $1,000 bail pending a court date this month.

On Feb. 26, at approximately 11:21 a.m., a complainant parked on the 400-block of Washington Street reported damage to the driver’s side mirror of his Lincoln Navigator.
Lyndhurst
On Feb. 25, at approximately 5:10 p.m., a complainant reported that someone had written the phrase "The Bangbus" on the rear window of her father’s 2003 GMC SUV. The writing was administered with a white chalky substance.
On Feb. 25, at approximately 10:52 a.m., an officer on patrol noticed that a traffic sign near the corner of Post and Riverside Avenues had been the victim of graffiti. The officer reported someone had used a black marker to write obscene gestures on the sign.
On Feb. 25, at approximately 9:31 a.m., an employee at Comprehensive Behavior Healthcare, located at 516 Valley Brook Ave., reported that someone had applied white spray paint to the west side of the building.
On Feb. 25, at approximately 8:28 a.m., a complainant parked on the 200-block of Valley Brook Ave. reported that "RIP Dale Earnhardt" and "Back Off" were written in white on the trunk and rear bumper of a 2002 Honda.

On Feb. 28, at approximately 11:40 a.m., a complainant reported finding graffiti on one of the walls of an apartment building on Montross Avenue. The graffiti was of a figure wearing a baseball cap with the letter "A" on it smoking something. Graffiti was also found on a nearby recycling shed.
On Feb. 25, at approximately 12:40 p.m., an officer observed the word "just" written in white spray-paint on a building at the corner of Home and Fairview Avenues.
DWI
East Rutherford
On Feb. 22, at approximately 9:49 p.m., 48-year-old Marianne Sailer of Wood-Ridge backed her 2006 Toyota Solara into a parked car in the New Park Tavern lot at 250 Park Ave. When officers arrived to investigate the accident, they detected the odor of alcohol on Sailer’s breath. Sailer then failed a number of standard field sobriety tests. She was arrested for DWI, but refused to provide breath samples for chemical analysis.

On Feb. 26, at approximately 1:03 a.m., an officer observed a car cross over the railroad tracks from East Rutherford and make a left into the traffic circle on Park Avenue. The officer effected a motor vehicle stop and spoke with 28-year-old Nicholas Yallo of Lyndhurst. The officer detected alcohol on Yallo’s breath and asked him if had been drinking. Yallo said he had had two drinks and was asked to perform a field sobriety test. Yallo failed the test, was arrested and issued summonses for an improper left turn and DWI. He was released to a responsible party.

On Feb. 28, at approximately 2:32 p.m., a Beckwith Place resident reported receiving a notice from the Internal Revenue Service saying his tax refund was being held pending an investigation. The man hadn’t yet mailed in his tax forms. He also received a letter from HSBC bank stating an advance loan against his tax refund had been denied. He hadn’t filed for a loan either. Police determined someone used the man’s identity to file a phony tax form and apply for a loan against an expected refund.
On Feb. 28, at approximately 11:25 a.m., a woman reported receiving a call from PNC Bank informing her that someone had fraudulently written a check for $295.14 on her account. The account was cancelled.
