Michael Carpino

LYNDHURST-Michael Carpino of Lyndhurst passed away Sunday, Feb. 10. He was 88 years old. Mr. Carpino was born in Garfield, raised in Lodi, and has been a resident of Lyndhurst for 61 years.

He was a WWII Navy Veteran (1943-45) and took part in the "Seabee’s". He was a General Foreman for Otis Elevator Company, Harrison for 30 years, retiring in 1980. He was a staff member of the Starlight Dance Studio, Nutley. He was a head usher for Sacred Heart R. C. Church. He was a member of The American Legion Post #139, Amvets Post #20, Knights of Columbus #2396, 4th Degree Knight of Columbus Santa Maria General Assembly all of Lyndhurst, and the Old Guard of Nutley.

Mr. Carpinol is survived by wife, Antoinette "Ann" (nee Di Camillo) and his two loving daughters, Elvira and Anita Carpino of Lyndhurst.

On Feb. 13, relatives and friends attended the funeral from the Nazare Memorial Home and then the funeral mass from Sacred Heart R.C. Church, both in Lyndhurst. The services were followed by interment in Holy Cross Chapel Mausoleum, North Arlington.

Helen A. Shannon

NORTH ARLINGTON-Helen A. Shannon of North Arlington passed away Saturday, Feb. 9. She was 91 years old. Miss Shannon was born in Bayonne and lived in North Arlington for many years.

She worked as a tester for the R.C.A. in Harrison for 35 years before retiring in 1976. She was a member of the Rosary Society of Queen of Peace Church in North Arlington. She was also a member of the Henrietta Benstead Friendship Club, Arts & Crafts, Catholic Daughters Court Cecilia #881 and the A.A.R.P., all of Kearny.

Ms. Shannon is predeceased by parents James and Helen (nee Donnelly) and siblings Rose Sewing and her husband, Harold, Philip Shannon and his wife, Margaret and Edward Shannon and his wife, Margaret. She is survived by nieces Rita Shannon and Rosemarie Lella and nephews Philip Shannon and Harold Sewing. She is also survived by many great-nieces and –nephews.

On Feb. 13, relatives and friends attended the funeral from the Parow Funeral Home and then the funeral mass from Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, both in North Arlington. The services were followed by interment in Holy Cross Cemetery, also in North Arlington.

Carolyn A. Morrell

RUTHERFORD-Carolyn A. Morrell of Rutherford passed away Feb. 6. She was 62 years old.

Ms. Morrell is survived by daughters Kristen and Kimberly Morrell.

The funeral services were private. Arrangements were made by the Collins-Calhoun Funeral Home in Rutherford.

Edna M. Morse

CARLSTADT-Edna M. Morse (nee Smith) of Carlstadt passed away Feb. 8. She was 86 years old. Mrs. Morse was born in Jersey City and lived in Carlstadt for over 30 years.

She worked as a gold technician for Krohn Ind. in Carlstadt.

Mrs. Morse is predeceased by former husband, William A. Morse, two brothers and two sisters. She is survived by daughters Elaine M. Morse of Hammonton, Patricia J. Hoyne of Frankin Park and Linda J. Janke and her husband Pastor Stephen Janke of Carlstadt and grandchildren Lori Pottberg, John Janke, Matthew Janke and Jerad Janke. She is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren and sister Florence Mills of Whiting.

On Feb 12, relatives and friends attended the funeral from Kimak Funeral Home in Carlstadt. The service was followed by interment in Holy Name Cemetery, Jersey City.

Maria Elena Corvo

Maria Elena Corvo (nee Porfido) of Lodi passed away on Feb. 9. She was 90 years old. Mrs. Corvo was born in Italy.

She was a seamstress for Lincoln Dress in Carlstadt.

Mrs. Corvo is predeceased by husband Francesco Corvo, three brothers and three sisters. She is survived by children Antonietta Porfido of Wood-Ridge, Carmelo Corvo of Italy, Lidia Infante of Carlstadt, Rosetta Maucione of East Rutherford and Candida Corvo of Lodi, 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She is also survived by brother Emidio Porfido of Wood-Ridge.

On Feb. 13, relatives and friends attended the funeral from Kimak Funeral Home in Carlstadt and then the funeral mass from St. Joseph’s R. C. Church in East Rutherford. Interment is in Salerno, Italy.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hackensack Hospice, 30 Prospect Ave., Hackensack, N.J. 07601.

Leonard J. Carparelli

EAST RUTHERFORD-Leonard J. Carparelli of East Rutherford passed away on Feb. 13. He was 89 years old. Mr. Carparelli was a resident of East Rutherford for 61 years.

He was a WWII Army Veteran. He was inducted Jan. 14, 1942 in Fort Dix, did basic training at Fort Belvoir, Va. for 13 weeks then went to Camp Blanding, Fla. where he was assigned to the 20th Engineers Combat Battalion. He received the Good Conduct Medal, Presidential Unit Citation and eight service stars which were for taking part in the following campaigns: Normandy invasion at Omaha Beach, North France, Rhineland, Ardennes-Alface, Central Europe, Algeria French Morocco, Tunisia and the Invasion of Sicily.

He was a member of the East Rutherford American Legion, Post 67, a parishioner of St. Joseph’s R. C. Church in East Rutherford, member and past president of the East Rutherford Board of Education and the Carlstadt-East Rutherford Regional Board of Education. For 20 years, he was the treasurer of School Moneys for the East Rutherford Board of Education. He was the business administrator of the East Rutherford Board of Education for 12 years before retiring in 1982. Prior, he was the Quality Control supervisor at Uniroyal Corp. in Passaic for 30 years.

Mr. Carparelli is predeceased by brother Peter N. Carparelli. He is survived by wife Claire M. Carparelli (nee DiChiara) of East Rutherford and children Leonard J. Carparelli, Jr. of East Rutherford and Maria A. Carparelli of Clifton. He is also survived by sisters Marie Simone and Jeanette Baldanza and nephews Russell Carparelli, Peter L. Carparelli, Robert Baldanza and James Baldanza.

On Feb. 16, relatives and friends attended the funeral from Kimak Funeral Home in Carlstadt and then the funeral mass from St. Joseph’s R. C. Church in East Rutherford. The services were followed by interment in Calvary Cemetery, Paterson.

Joseph Albert Liberta

Joseph Albert Liberta of Davenport, Fla. passed away on Feb. 10. He was 58 years old. Mr. Liberta was a former resident of Carlstadt and lived in Davenport, Fla. for five years.

He was an Army 82nd Airborn Vietnam Veteran. For 30 years, he was a parts distributor for Ford Moter Co. in Teterboro then in Davenport, Fla. for the last five years. He was also a former Bergen County H.O.G. member.

Mr. Liberta is predeceased by father Henry A. Liberta. He is survived by wife Teresa Liberta (nee Rubio) of Davenport, Fla., children Joseph T. Liberta and Sondra M. Soto, both of Carlstadt and mother Adele Liberta (nee Skwirut) of Kearny. He is also survived by siblings Carole O’Connor of Kearny, Henry A. Liberta, Jr. of North Arlington, Barbara Bovill of North Arlington and John Liberta of Kearny.

On Feb. 16, relatives and friends attended the funeral from Kimak Funeral Home in Carlstadt then the funeral mass from the Carlstadt First Presbyterian Church. Cremation is in East Ridgelawn Crematory in Clifton.

Maryann Mason

Maryann Mason, formerly of Stamford, Conn., passed away on Feb. 9. She was 88 years old. Mrs. Mason was a former resident of Rutherford who was born in Detroit, MI.

She is an alumna of Nazareth College in Michigan. She sang professionally in Detroit. While living in Rutherford, Mrs. Mason was a long-time employee of McGraw-Hill, where she administered programs supporting education and then served as executive assistant to one of the senior members of the company. Mrs. Mason loved to entertain in her home, and her children fondly remember many occasions when friends and family would visit. She was a saleswoman for Avon Products which she continued to sell until only a short while before her death. She was for many years a member of the Sweet Adelines,; she continued to sing at musical events as a resident in assisted living. She was a member of St Mary's parish in Rutherford and served on its parish council.  In Stamford, Mrs. Mason was a member of St. Leo’s.

Mrs. Mason is predeceased by husband John B. Mason and brother Gilbert. She is survived by two daughters, Jennifer, of Greenwich, CT; and Joanne, of Sydney, Australia; two sons, Philip of Brunswick, Maine and his wife, Peggy; and Jeffrey of Des Plaines, IL and his wife Elsie; three granddaughters, Amy Saharia, of Washington, DC and her husband, Kappel; Sarah of Waltham, MA; and Kristen of New Orleans, LA; and her granddog, Sally.

On Feb. 16, relatives and friends attended the funeral mass from St. Leo’s RC Church at Stamford, Conn. Interment was private.

Rosemary McFadden

NORTH ARLINGTON-Rosemary McFadden (nee Civitano) of North Arlington passed away Thursday, Feb. 14. She was 59 years old. Mrs. McFadden was born in Bayonne and lived in North Arlington for the past 24 years.

She graduated from Bayonne High School in 1966. She was a member and past-president of the Ladies Auxiliary of the V.F.W. Post #1302 of Kearny.

Mrs. McFadden is survived by husband Thomas F. McFadden and daughter Bridget McFadden.

On Feb. 18, relatives and friends attended the funeral from Parow Funeral Home and then the funeral mass from Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, both in North Arlington. The services were followed by interment in Holy Cross Chapel Mausoleum, also in North Arlington.

Rosary Pascucci

LYNDHURST-Rosary "Rose" Pascucci of Lyndhurst passed away Tuesday, Feb. 12. She was 87 years old. Mrs. Pascucci was born and raised in Lyndhurst.

She graduated from LaNoris School of Hair Design in 1938 and worked for Mera Bella’s on Stuyvesant Avenue as a hair stylist. Later, she worked for Evelyn’s Salon in Little Ferry.

Mrs. Pascucci is predeceased by husband Rick. She is survived by sister Lucy and daughter Marilyn. She is also survived by sons-in-law and three grandchildren.

Relatives and friends were received at Megaro Funeral Home in Belleville. Services were followed by interment in Holy Cross Mausoleum, North Arlington.

Karin Wills

Karin Wills (nee Stoehr) of Teaneck passed away Feb. 14. She was 85 years old. Mrs. Wills was a former resident of Rutherford.

She was the past executive secretary of Harry Winston Jewelers.

Mrs. Wills is predeceased by husband Gerhard Wills.

A private funeral was held. Arrangements were made by Collins-Calhoun Funeral Home.
