Dogs' poised for tourney

The Bulldogs finished a very tough dual meet season in style with two wins on Saturday. The team squared off against Emerson/Union City and Paterson Eastside. Rutherford was able to secure two more victories to up the total to nine this season. Against Emerson Union City the Bulldogs won by a 47 to 19 score. Against Paterson Eastside the team won 57 to 24.

There were numerous forfeits in each match. Against Emerson/Union City the Bulldogs collected forfeits at 103 lbs. (T.J. Husted), 112 lbs. (Dan Geraldi), 119 lbs. (Kevin Torres), and 140 lbs. (Jesse Kolich). Other wins were posted by Bryan Brown (technical fall at 125 lbs.), Robert Fecanin (pin at 135 lbs.), Charles DeCarlo (decision at 160 lbs.), David Zurla (decision win at 171 lbs.) and Nick Zurla (pin at 189 lbs.).

Against Paterson Eastside forfeits were collected again from weight classes 103 lbs., 112 lbs., 119 lbs., 125 lbs., 130 lbs., 135 lbs., and 152 lbs. (T.J. Husted, Dan Geradli, Kevin Torres, Bryan Brown, Robert Fecanin, Jesse Kolich, and Ali Naderi). Charles DeCarlo, David Zurla and Nick Zurla posted additional wins.

It was senior day for the team, as well. Wrestlers Brian Kane, Robert Fecanin, Jesse Kolich, Nick Zurla, Fiona Watson and Charles DeCarlo were all honored. After the matches the team, fans, and alumni enjoyed the annual Bulldog Wrestling Luncheon.

Next up, the Bulldogs travel to Becton High School on Friday and Saturday to wrestle in the District 15 Tournament.
