Antoinette Bova

 

NORTH ARLINGTON-Antoinette Bova(nee Scarpa), of North Arlington, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 13. She was 92 years old. Mrs. Bova was born in Jersey City and had been a resident of North Arlington most of her life.

She worked as a Seamstress for Janet Lynn, Elizabeth for several years. She was a member of The Senior Harmony Club of North Arlington and was also a past Sergeant of Arms.

Mrs. Bova is predeceased by husband, James F. Bova. She is survived by daughter, Rosanne Pinto and her husband, Anthony of Menifee, Calif., her grandchildren, Sheryl Woods and her husband, Robert, Anthony Pinto and his wife, Millie and Michelle Bernieri and her husband, John. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Robert, Amanda, Zachary, Cara and Hailey.

On Dec. 20, relatives and friends attended the funeral from the Nazare Memorial Home, Inc., in Lyndhurst then to the funeral mass from Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, in North Arlington. The services were followed by interment in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.

Matthew Raftery

 

EAST RUTHERFORD-Matthew Raftery, of East Rutherford, passed away on Dec. 14. He was 88 years old. Mr. Raftery was born in East Rutherford.

He was a retired inventory manager for Emerson Radio in Jersey City. He was an Army veteran of WWII, serving in the Pacific Theater.

Mr. Raftery is survived by his sister Elizabeth.

On Dec. 18, relatives and friends attended a funeral mass from St. Joseph’s R.C. Church in East Rutherford. The service was followed by interment in St. Nicholas Cemetery in Lodi. Arrangements were made from the Collins-Calhoun Funeral Home in Rutherford.

Ciro J. Lo Pinto

 

Ciro J. Lo Pinto, of Clifton, passed away on Dec. 15. He was 75 years old. Mr. Lo Pinto was born in Brooklyn.

He was a supervisor for Home and Rome located in Baltimore, Md. He was an Air Force veteran. He was a member of St. Phillips Church, Passaic County Historical Society and the Babe Ruth Museum in Baltimore.

Mr. Lo Pinto is survived by wife Lilia Lo Pinto (nee Acosta), sons Philip, Ciro and Anthony, daughters Bianca Aniski and Bernadette Neil, bother Frank and sisters Mary Rose Perotta and Jenny Pugliesi. He is also survived by grandchildren Matthew, Calla, Katie, Kyle, Jordan, Skylar, Chelsea, Isabella and Alexander.

On Dec. 19, relatives and friends were received at the Collins-Calhoun Funeral Home in Rutherford. On Dec. 20, a funeral mass was held at St. Phillips Church in Clifton. The service was followed by interment in Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans memorial Cemetery in Arneytown.

George Hingely Stokes

 

George Hingely Stokes, of California Beach, passed away on Dec 9 at Memorial Medical Center, Calif. He was 61 years old. Mr. Stokes grew up in East Rutherford.

He was president and chairman of the board for the Association of Surfing Professionals. He started Stokes-Spokes bicycle shop as well as Innovative Data Processing, where he did computer consulting for organizations such as Cal-Tech and the Jet Propulsion Laboratory. Along with surfing, cycling and music, he loved sailing his boat "Adventures" to Catalina and beyond.

Mr. Stokes is predeceased by his wife, Suzanne (nee Eberle). He is survived by children Tod, Kara, Luke and Christian, grandson Kelty and sister Ann Stokes-Neff of Monroeville.

A service was held at Hope Chapel Huntington Beach on Dec. 22.  In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Upper Room Ministries 5081 Roxborough Dr., Placentia, Calif. 92870.
