James Polito
RUTHERFORD-James Polito, of Rutherford, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 29. He was 29 years old. He was born in Belleville, and lived in Rutherford for over 25 years.
He was a former employee of Carney Tree Service in Wyckoff.
Mr. Polito is predeceased by his grandfather, Cliff Greene. He is survived by his parents, James and Deborah Polito (nee Greene), his loving sister, Dana Polito, grandparents, Angelo and Rita Polito of Lyndhurst and Annette Greene of Las Vegas. He is also survived by aunts and uncles, Michael and Diane Polito, Angelo and Fran Polito and Cliff and Cammie Greene, as well as cousins, Lisa, Dina and Michael Polito, Michael and Michelle Polito and Trae, Ashley and Haley Greene.
On Dec. 3, relatives and friends attended the funeral from the Nazare Memorial Home, Inc. then to the funeral mass at Sacred Heart Church, both in Lyndhurst. The services were followed by interment at Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington.
Antoinette M. Zatkos
RUTHERFORD-Antoinette M. Zatkos (nee Zampacota), of Rutherford, passed away on Friday, Nov. 30. She was 81 years old. She was born in East Rutherford and has lived the past 31 years in Rutherford.
Mrs. Zatkos was a homemaker.
She is predeceased by her husband, William Zatkos. She is survived by her sons, John Zatkos and his wife Theresa of Wallington, Anthony "Chuck" Zatkos of Lyndhurst and William Zatkos of Rutherford. She is also survived by grandchildren, John Jr., Tabitha, Anthony, Daniel and Nicholas and three great-grandchildren.
On Dec. 5, relatives and friends attended the funeral from the Nazare Memorial Home, Inc. in Lyndhurst and then to the funeral mass at St. Mary’s Church in Rutherford. The services were followed by interment at Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington.
Richard L. Huff
LYNDHURST-Richard L. Huff, of Lyndhurst, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 1, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Passaic. He was 80 years old. Mr. Huff was born in Jersey City and lived in Lyndhurst for the past 43 years.
He worked as an administrative assistant for Morgan Guaranty Trust Co. in New York City for 40 years before retiring in 1991. He served in the United States Navy during World War II.
Mr. Huff is predeceased by his son, Thomas. He is survived by his wife Margaret (nee McMahon), son Steven and his wife, Beverly and granddaughter, Samantha.
A funeral service was held on Dec. 6 in the Parow Funeral Home in North Arlington. The service was followed by interment in Holy Cross Cemetery, in North Arlington.
Rita LoPresti
LYNDHURST-Rita LoPresti (nee Savoia), of Lyndhurst, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 2. She was 86 years old. She was born and raised in Jersey City and has been a resident of Lyndhurst for 60 years.
Mrs. LoPresti was a homemaker.
She is survived by her husband Frank LoPresti, her two sons, Robert LoPresti and his wife, Linda of Sea Bright and Frank LoPresti and his wife, Lisa of Lincoln Park, and by her two sisters, Anne Angelicola of Lyndhurst and Lucille Gianuzzi of Rutherford. She is also survived by two granddaughters, Lauren and Nicole LoPresti.
On Dec. 6, relatives and friends attended the Funeral from the Nazare Memorial Home, and then the funeral mass at Sacred Heart Church, both in Lyndhurst. The services were followed by interment at Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington.
Salvatore P. Simone
Salvatore P. Simone, formerly of Rutherford, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 2. He was 91 years old.
Mr. Simone is predeceased by his wife of 55 years Josephine (nee Avellino). He is survived by his three daughters and their spouses, Annette and Tom Jaskot, Roseanne Simone and her fiancé, Charles Haag and Michele and Kevin O’Brien, Sr. Also surviving are his three grandsons, Jason Jaskot, Kevin Jr. and Kyle O’Brien and his brother, Joseph Simone. He is also survived by companion of Gloria Markisz.
Visitation was on Dec. 4 at Norman Dean Home for Services in Denville. A funeral Mmass was held on Dec. 5 at the Notre Dame of Mount Carmel Church in. Cedar Knolls. The service was followed by interment at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in North Arlington.

Barbara Mitchko
Barbara Mitchko (nee Bianchi), of Oak Ridge, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 5. She was 59 years old. Mrs. Mitchko was born and raised in Lyndhurst, lived 20 years in Lake Hopatcong and was a resident of Oak Ridge for the past 14 years.
She was a tax compliance specialist for Ceridian Company in Montville for 14 years.
Mrs. Mitchko is predeceased by parents, Romeo Bianchi and Helen (nee Alborn). She is survived by children Robyn and Andrew Mitchko. She is also survived by sister Patricia Morrone, of Lyndhurst.
On Dec. 8, relatives and friends attended the Funeral from Nazare Memorial Home, Inc. then the funeral mass at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, both in Lyndhurst. The services were followed by interment at Holy Cross Chapel Mausoleum in North Arlington.
Helen Apatsky
NORTH ARLINGTON-Helen Apatsky (nee Kacynski), of North Arlington, passed away on Dec. 5 at the Clara Maass Medical Center in Belleville. She was 91 years old. She was born in Kearny and lived in Harrison before moving over 40 years ago.
Mrs. Apatsky was employed in Harrison for 42 years before retiring in 1975. She was a member of the Nutrition Center in North Arlington and the North Arlington Senior Citizens.
Mrs. Apatsky is predeceased by husband Alexander. She is survived by sister-in-law Jen Kaczynski and nieces Janice K. Pease, Joanne Bogoslaw and Judy Wood. She is also survived by great-nieces Lauren and Jessica Pease and great-nephews David Pease, Joseph and Matthew Wood and Tomas Bogoslaw.
On Dec. 8 relatives and frienmds were received at the Parow Funeral Home in North Arlington and later attended the funeral mass at Our Lady of Czestochowa Church in Harrison. Services were followed by interment in Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington.
Joseph A. Dunn
Joseph A. Dunn, of Kingwood, Texas, passed away on Nov. 30. He was born in Kearny and lived in North Arlington before moving to Kingwood in 2005.
Mr. Dunn was employed by the E.I. DuPont Company in Newark for 34 years before retiring in 1979. He served in the United States Army Air Corp. during World War I. He was a member of the Arlington Players Club and won many tournaments in both singles and doubles tennis. He also achieved regional and national rankings on the senior tennis court.
Mr. Dunn is survived by sister Vera Dunn, nieces Ann Baille and Kathy Ferris and nephews Pat Timpanaro and Edward, Michael and Robert Hennesy. He is also survived by numerous great-nieces and great-nephews and brother-in-law John Hennessy.
On Dec. 7, relatives and friends attended the funeral from the Parow Funeral Home and then the funeral mass at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, both in North Arlington. The services were followed by interment in Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington.
James Francis Kenny
EAST RUTHERFORD-James Francis Kenny, of East Rutherford, passe away on Dec. 4. He was 76 years old. Mr. Kenny was born in Jersey City and lived in East Rutherford since 1959.
He was an Air Force Korean War veteran. He was a mechanical engineer project manager for Allied Bendix in Teterboro for over 30 years before retiring at age 62. He was a parishioner and trustee of St. Joseph’s R.C. Church in East Rutherford. He was twice past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus, St. Francis of Assisi #4524. He was also a member of the Catholic War Veterans, St. Joseph’s Post 663, VFW Post 8374 of East Rutherford and president of the East Rutherford Seniors. In addition, he was a member of the Holy Name Society of St. Joseph’s Church.
Mr. Kenny is survived by wife Amalia "Molly" M (nee Maccione) Kenny, daughters Eva Maria McDermott and her husband, Joe, of Sudburg Mass. and Theresa Mary Kaiser and her husband, Rick, of Danville, Calif. and son James F. Kenny and his wife, Helen, of Freehold. He is also survived by grandchildren, Daniel Kaiser, Brian and Kevin McDermott and Lisa Dybus, brother Edward Kenny and his wife, Pat, of Lakewood and sister Patricia Govek and her husband, Mickey, of Jersey City. In addition, he is survived by cousin MaryJane Darragh and her family, and several nieces and nephews.
On Dec. 7, relatives and friends attended the funeral at the Kimak Funeral Home in Carlstadt and then the funeral mass at St. Joseph’s R.C. Church in East Rutherford. The services were followed by interment in Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington.

Mary Lucille Moyle
NORTH ARLINGTON-Mary Lucille Moyle (nee Ruddy) passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 4. She was 90 years old. Mrs. Moyle was born in Archbald, Pa. and lived in North Arlington for the past 25 years.
She worked as a reconciler for Fidelity Union Bank in Newark before retiring 25 years ago. She was a member of the North Arlington Senior Citizens, a parishioner of Queen of Peace Church in North Arlington and a member of the Emblem Club of the Elk’s Club in Nutley.
Mrs. Moyle is predeceased by husband John J. She is suruvied by daughters Ann Moyle, Mary Engle and Patricia DiPietro and her husband, Michael. She is also survived by grandchildren Paul Mancini, Beth Gregory, Steven DiPietro, Kellie Barone and Julie Engle, great-grandson Carson Gregory and sister-in-law Madelyn Ruddy.
On Dec. 7, relatives and friends attended the funeral from Parow Funeral Home and then the funeral mass at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, both in North Arlington. The services were followed by interment in Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover.
Elizabeth De Vasto
Elizabeth De Vasto (nee Martino) of Clifton, passed away Nov. 29. She was 95 years old. She was born in Garfield and lived in Clifton for over 30 years.
Mrs. De Vasto was a homemaker.
She is predeceased by husband Philip F. De Vasto, Sr., former councilman of East Rutherford and brother, Fred Martino. She is survived by sons Philip F. De Vasto, Jr., of Bradley Beach, Charles R. De Vasto, of Clifton and Patrick P. De Vasto and grandsons Victor and Gregg. She is also survived by sisters Angelina Catania, Helen Tufaro and Rose De Vasto and brother Raymond Martino.
On Dec. 1, relatives and friends attended the funeral mass at St. Joseph’s R.C. Church in East Rutherford. The service was followed by interment in St. Nicholas Cemetery in Lodi. Arrangements were made by the Kimak Funeral Home in Carlstadt.
Michael C. Sesta
RUTHERFORD-Michael C. Sesta, of Rutherford, passed away Nov. 30. He was 57 years old.
Mr. Sesta was a musician.
He is survived by his mother, Mary Casella, three sisters, Jeanette Miller and her husband, Roy, Michelle Pipo and her husband, Donald and Nadine Zaumseil and her husband, Arthur. He is also survived by niece Melissa Miller and his aunt Connie Maita.
On Dec. 3, relatives and friends attended the funeral at the Collins-Calhoun Funeral Home in Rutherford. The service was followed by interment in Holy Name Cemetery in Jersey City.

Marilyn DiNoto
RUTHERFORD-Marilyn DiNoto, of Rutherford, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 2. She was 64 years old.
Mrs. DiNoto is survived by husband Charles, mother-in-law Angela and daughters Carla Picheo and her husband, Bart and Melissa DiNoto. She is also survived by sister Patricia LaRossa, brothers Richard and Dennis Marsella and granddaughters Angela and Ava.
On Dec. 6, relatives and friends attended the funeral from the Collins-Calhoun Funeral Home and then the funeral mass at St. Mary R.C. Church, both in Rutherford. The services were followed by interment in Hillside Cemetery in Lyndhurst.

William S. Mercoun
CARLSTADT-William S. Mercoun, of Carlstadt, passed away on Nov. 27. He was 87 years old. He was a lifelong resident of Carlstadt.
Mr. Mercoun was an Army WWII veteran and a life member of the Carlstadt V.F.W., Post 3249. He was the owner of William Mercoun, Inc., a trucking company in Carlstadt, before retiring in 1985. He was a member of the Eclipse Lodge #259 of East Rutherford, the Salaam Shrine Temple of Livingston and the Knights Templer, R.O.J.
Mr. Mercoun is survived by Irene F. (nee Micci) Mercoun, daughter Dawn D. Anderson, of Carlstadt and son Keith N. Mercoun and his wife, Susan, of Carlstadt. He is also survived by grandson, Nicholas.
On Dec. 1, relatives and friends attended the funeral service at the Kimak Funeral Home in Carlstadt. The service was followed by interment in Fairview Cemetery in Fairview.

Antonio DiScerni
NORTH ARLINGTON-Antonio DiScerni, of North Arlington, passed away on Nov. 28. He was 81 years old. Mr. DiScerni was born in Italy, lived in Kearny and moved to North Arlington in 1962.
He worked as a machine operator for Worthington Pump in East Orange for 35 years before retiring in 1984. He was an usher and member of the Holy Name Society Queen of Peace Church. He was a member of the B.P.O., Elk’s Lodge #1992, Italian-American Club and a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus Msgr. Peter B. O’Connor Assembly #1543, all of North Arlington.
Mr. DiScerni is predeceased by son Joseph DiScerni. He is survived by wife Ada (nee Passante), daughter Maria Aiello and her husband, Kenneth and grandson Jason Aiello. He is also survived by brother Angelo DiScerni and many nieces and nephews.
