Alfred W. Wenzel


CARLSTADT- Alfred W. Wenzel, of Carlstadt, passed away on Nov. 10. He was 79 years old. He was born in Jersey City and lived in Carlstadt for 57 years.

Mr. Wenzel was an Army Air Force veteran and a member of the Carlstadt First Presbyterian Church. He served on the Carlstadt police force for 36 years until he retired in 1993 as captain. He was a member of the P.B.A Local 312. He was also a part-time instructor with the Fair Lawn Driving School.

He was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy L. Wenzel, brother Frank Wenzel and son-in-law Raymond Adams. He is survived by his daughter, Carolee Adams of Montvale, and his grandchildren Rae Caroline Adams and Charles Alfred Adams.

Relatives and friends were received at the Kimak Funeral Home in Carlstadt and attended the funeral Mass at the Carlstadt First Presbyterian Church on Nov. 17. The services were followed by interment at the Hillside Cemetery in Lyndhurst.

Marie Drabin


NORTH ARLINGTON- Marie Drabin (nee Anteo), of North Arlington, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 17 at the Hospice of New Jersey in Wayne. She was born in New York City and lived in North Arlington for the past 50 years.

She was a member of the Rosary Society of Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, the North Arlington Women’s Club, the Arlington Women’s Club and the Past Presidents Club. She was also a published author in numerous poetry compilations.

Mrs. Drabin was predeceased by her husband, Michael Drabin, and her sister, Eleanor Villanova. She is survived by her sons, Dr. Michael Dennis Drabin and his wife Diane of Connecticut and Gregory Drabin and his wife Cathy of Marlton and her daughter Mary Ellen DiMeo of North Arlington. She is also survived by her niece Rosemarie C. Villanova of Ocean Grove, five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

A funeral Mass was held on Nov. 17 at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, following the funeral from the Parow Funeral Home, both in North Arlington. The services were followed by interment at the Holy Cross Chapel Mausoleum in North Arlington.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hospice of New Jersey, 400 Broadacres Dr., Bloomfield, 07003 in her memory.

Angela R. Pantozzi


RUTHERFORD-Angela R. Pantozzi (nee Sciscilo), of Rutherford, passed away on Nov. 15. She was 84 years old. She was born in Jersey City.

Mrs. Pantozzi was a homemaker.

She was predeceased by her brother Frank. She is survived by her husband, Salvatore J., her sons Paul and his wife Nina and Joseph and his wife Evangela, her daughters Francesca Briamonte and Donna and her husband Harry Weber. She is also survived by her brother Michael, her sisters Theresa, Mary, and Josephine, grandchildren Carrise and her husband Marty Maggazzolo, Paul, Patrick, Alexandra, Jenna, Harry Jr., and Angela, as well as great- grandchildren Tino, Ariana, and Enzo.

A funeral was held at the Macagna Diffily Onorato Funeral Home in Rutherford on Nov. 19, which was followed by a funeral Mass at St. Mary’s RC Church, both in Rutherford. The services were followed by interment Holy Cross Mausoleum in North Arlington.

Carlo J. Martorana


LYNDHURST- Carlo J. Martorana, of Lyndhurst, passed away on Friday Nov. 16. He was 79 years old. Mr. Marto-rana was born in Newark and lived in Jersey City and Lyndhurst for the past 35 years.

He served in the United States Army from 1946 until 1949. He was a truck driver for Cooper Jarrett in Maspeth, N.Y. for 25 years before retiring in 1995.

He is survived by his wife Virginia (nee Di Spirito) of Lyndhurst and his loving children Pamela, Joseph, Carl, Thomas and Bruce Martorana. He is also survived by his grandchildren Jaclyn Bocchicchio, Megan Manzi, Jessica, Ashley, and Dana Martorana, Samantha and Jeffrey Martorana and his brother, Anthony Martorana.

Relatives and friends attended the funeral on Nov. 19 from the Nazare Memorial Home, then to the funeral Mass at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, both in Lyndhurst. The services were followed by interment at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.

Wanda J. Culver


RUTHERFORD-Wanda J. Culver (nee Adamski), of Rutherford, passed away on Nov. 17. She was 93 years old. Mrs. Culver was born in Jersey City.

She was a telephone operator for AT&T.

Mrs. Culver was predeceased by her husband Norman. She is survived by her son, Hal Culver and several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends were received on Nov. 20 at the Collins-Calhoun Funeral Home in Rutherford. A funeral Mass was held on Nov. 21 at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, also in Rutherford. The service was followed by interment at Holy Cross Cemetary in North Arlington.

Cornelia E. Hasselhuhn


Cornelia E. “Connie” Hasselhuhn, of Gainesville, Fla., passed away on Nov. 13. She was 86 years old. Mrs. Has-selhuhn was born in Oneida, N.Y. and lived in Rutherford.

She served as a WAC during World War II. She was a supervisor of customer service for Becton & Dickinson for 40 years until she retired and was also a member of their alumni. She was a member of American Legion Post 109, VFW Post 227 and Grace Episcopal Church. She was past president of the Rutherford Ladies Auxillary and a volunteer at Hackensack University Medical Center.

Mrs. Hasselhuhn was predeceased by husband Emil Hasselhuhn. She is survived by her sister Esther Busch, brother-in-law Charles, nephew William Busch and nieces Virginia Busch and Anita Weinkle. She is also survived by seven grand- and great-grandnephews and nieces.

Friends were received at the Collins-Calhoun Funeral Home in Rutherford on Nov. 25. A funeral service was held at the Grace Episcopal Church in Rutherford on Nov. 26. The service was followed by interment at George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus.

Phyliss Brinskma


RUTHERFORD-Phyllis Brinksma (nee Ross), of Rutherford, passed away on Nov. 19. She was 95 years old. She was born in Jersey City.

Mrs. Brinksma was a homemaker.

She is predeceased by her husband August. She is survived by her son James, her daughters Janet Ennis and Joan Rosenbower, her brothers Vincent and Michael and her sisters Catherine and Rose. She is also survived by her grandchildren Thomas, James, Glenn, Edward, Lori, Nichole, Michelle, Melissa and Wendy and five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her caregiver Margaret.

Relatives at friends were received on Nov. 24 at the funeral at the Macagna Diffily Onorato Funeral Home and then at the funeral Mass at St. Marys Roman Catholic Church, both in Rutherford. The services were followed by interment at Lodi Cemetery, in Lodi.

Carmen Walsh


NORTH ARLINGTON- Carmen Walsh (nee Benvenutti), of North Arlington, passed away on Nov. 18. She was 83 years old. Mrs. Walsh was born in Puerto Rico, lived in Jersey City and moved to North Arlington in 1962.

She received her nursing degree in St. Mary’s Hospital in Mobile, Ala. and worked as a registered nurse in St. Mary’s Hospital in Passaic and Paterson Counseling in Paterson before retiring in 2003. She was a member of the North Arlington Democratic Club.

Mrs. Walsh was predeceased by her son Mark Walsh. She is survived by her husband Thomas A. Walsh, daughter Marie Sevcik and her husband William and sons Thomas and John Walsh. She is also survived by four grand-children and several sisters and brothers in Puerto Rico.

Relatives and friends were received on Nov. 21 at the Parow Funeral Home and then to the funeral Mass at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, both in North Arlington. The services were followed by interment in Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington.

Chester J. Szalankiewicz


LYNDHURST- Chester J. (Pete) Szalankiewicz, of Lyndhurst, passed away on Nov. 21. He was 75 years old. Mr. Szalankiewicz was born in Everson, Pa., raised in Jersey City, and has been a resident of Lyndhurst since 1965.

He was a production planner for Clayton Container, Harrison for 10 years, retiring in 1996. He was an Army veteran who served in the Korean Conflict (1952-54). He was a member of Musicians Local 248, Paterson where he was an Accordion Player known as “Chet Sanky”.

Mr. Szalankiewicz was predeceased by his wife Irene (nee Goletz) Szalankiewicz, his parents John and Magdalena (nee Komanska) Szalankiewicz and siblings Mary Muszynska, Agnes Napiorski, Clara Kowalewski, Jessie Bozik and Walter, Casimir, Victor and Edward Szalankiewicz. He is survived by his daughter Lisa Ann Szalankiewicz of Lyndhurst, his sisters Genevieve Fatla of Mt. Pleasant, Pa. and Loretta Brissette of Hoboken. He is also survived by brothers-in-law Joseph Goletz of Chesterland, Ohio, Bernard Goletz of Punta Gorda, Fla., George Goletz and his wife Chrissy of Broad Run, Pa. and sister-in-law Betty Goletz of Ruffsdale, Pa., as well as many nieces, grandnieces, grandnephews and great-grandnephews.

Relatives and friends attended the funeral from the Nazare Memorial Home and then to the funeral Mass at Sa-cred Heart Church, both in Lyndhurst, on Nov. 24. The services were followed by interment at Holy Cross Chapel Mausoleum in North Arlington.

John Otto


LYNDHURST- John Otto, of Lyndhurst, passed away on Nov. 21. He was 46 years old. Mr. Otto was born and raised in New York, N.Y. and has been a resident of Lyndhurst for the past 15 years.

He was a computer programmer for UBS Financial Services, Weehawken for seven years.

John is survived by his wife Marie (nee Hatzoglou) Otto, his sons Ryan and Steven Otto and his father-in-law Chris Hatzoglou. He is also survived by his ten siblings Herbert Otto of N.J., Marion Nguyen of N.J., Margaret O’Connor of N.J., Susan Peralta of N.J., Dorothy Feeley of N.Y., Carol DeBlasio of Fla., Marie DeMarco of N.Y., Lorraine McGuinn of Fla., Steve Otto of Fla. and Joan Kargauer of Fla.

Relatives and friends attended the funeral from the Nazare Memorial Home, and then the funeral Mass at St. Michael’s Church, both in Lyndhurst, on Nov. 26. The services were followed by interment at Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington.

Camille Marten Loveridge


Camille Marten Loveridge, of Belmont, Mass., passed away. She was born in her home in Rutherford and delivered by the physician and poet Dr. William Carlos Williams. She was a resident of Rutherford and Sag Harbor, N.Y. until she recently moved to Belmont, Mass.

Upon graduation from Cooper Union, she attended La Sorbonne in France until the outbreak of World War II. She worked for many years as a secretary at Rutherford Junior High School. She was a member of the Rutherford Art Association and has paintings hanging in private collections throughout the east coast.

Mrs. Loveridge was predeceased by her husband Dr. Lawrence Earle Loveridge and her sister Juliette A. Trainor. She is survived by her three daughters Laura L. Goode and her husband Dr. Robert K. Goode of Belmont, Mass., Dr. Suzanne L. Reynolds and her husband Philip N. Reynolds of Rutherford and Julie L. Zaykowski and her hus-band Joseph J. Zaykowski Jr. of Sag Harbor, N.Y. She is also survived by her six grandchildren Matthew K. Goode, Christine G. Goode Alexander, Julianne N. Reynolds, Andrew L. Reynolds, Colleen C. Reynolds and Heather V. Zaykowski and her great grandson Evan K. Goode.

Relatives and friends were received at the funeral service from the First Congregational Church and the United Church of Christ, both in Rutherford. The services were followed by interment in Hillside Cemetery in Lyndhurst.
