East Rutherford firefighters were called to an apartment building for a second alarm fire on Nov. 5 at 11 a.m. A motorist called in the fire after noticing flames coming out of the first floor rear window at 194 Uhland St. Two cats died in the fire and one man jumped out the window to escape the flames. The fire was contained to one apartment and was knocked down in about 40 minutes. The cause of the fire is still being investigated. Red Cross has found housing for displaced resi-dents.
