BURGLARY/THEFT

Carlstadt

On Nov. 8, at approximately 4:07 p.m., a South Amboy resident reported that his $250 cell phone had been stolen while it was on a table at his job at United Rentals Highway Technologies, located at 316 Paterson Plank Road.

On Nov. 5, at approximately 11:15 p.m., police responded to a call at 21 Carlyle Ct. on the report of a theft. Ac-cording to the complainant, he saw a silver vehicle stop in the street earlier in the day in front of 13 Carlyle Ct. and soon after, saw a male run from the driveway and into the passenger seat. Later, the complainant saw that the driver’s side window on a 2002 Chevy Astro van parked in the driveway. Stolen from within was a $600 Garmin GPS unit.

On Nov. 5, at approximately 7:16 a.m., a complainant at 310 Broad St. reported that he had parked his company vehicle on Broad Street and upon returning, found that the passenger’s side window was broken. Taken from inside the vehicle was a Garmin Street Pilot c330 GPS unit valued at $200.

On Nov. 5, at approximately 5:02 p.m., a child complainant at McKenzie Field on Chadwick Street reported that his bicycle had been stolen. According to police, the complainant described the bicycle as a red Diamondback BMX bike with a $100 sticker on it. It had only rear brakes with no foot pegs. Police said that juveniles in the area de-scribed that an approximately 17-year-old male with a dark colored hooded sweatshirt as the alleged thief of the bicycle. According to police, they reported that he rode south on New Street.

On Nov. 5, at approximately 4:46 p.m., a caller stated that while his car was parked at the Sheraton Hotel at 2 Meadowlands Plaza Dr. between Oct. 29 and Nov. 1, an unknown individual allegedly broke the driver’s side door lock and entered the vehicle. However, he told police that didn’t realize that the vehicle was broken into until Nov. 5. According to the police, a Canon data projector valued at $1,000 and a Magellan GPS unit valued at $250 were removed from the vehicle.

On Nov. 5, at approximately 8:29 a.m., a complainant reported to police that his Lowe’s gift card was allegedly stolen when he returned an item, accidentally leaving the card behind on the counter or dropped elsewhere in the store. An unknown party used the card in the store shortly after the complainant left. The value of the card was $83.46.

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF

Carlstadt

On Nov. 5, at approximately 2:19 p.m., a Wallington resident employed at Brooklyn Imports, located at 175 Broad St., reported that she had went out to her 2006 Toyota Rav 4 during her lunch break only to find that the entire driver’s side of the vehicle had been keyed.

DWI

North Arlington

On Nov. 4, at approximately 1:28 a.m., officers on patrol observed a black sport utility vehicle riding over the yel-low line on River Road at Belmont Avenue. Police stopped the vehicle and spoke to the driver, 28-year-old Perfecto Malave of Kearny. Police detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath and placed him under arrest for driving while intoxicated after he failed a field sobriety test. He was issued summonses for careless driving and driv-ing while intoxicated. His vehicle was impounded and he was released to a responsible party.

FRAUD

East Rutherford

On Nov. 5, at approximately 3 p.m., an employee the B.J.’s Wholesale Club reported that Fazeeman Khan, a resi-dent of Corona, N.Y. allegedly issued B.J.’s two personal checks totaling $735.97 for merchandise purchased on Sept. 22. One check was for $650.37 and the other was for $85.60. According to police, both checks were returned because of insufficient funds. B.J.’s employees and the responding officer attempted to contact him with negative results, police said. The complainant filed an affidavit, charging Khan with bad checks.

WARRANTS

Carlstadt

On Nov. 6, at approximately 7:52 p.m., an officer initiated a motor vehicle stop in the parking lot of SweetWater Seafood, located at 367 Washington Ave. In questioning the driver of the 2007 Lincoln Continental, the officer no-ticed a license plate on the front seat. The driver said it belonged to his neighbor. A check on the plate number re-vealed that the owner, 36-year-old Siyam Hamdi of North Bergen, had an outstanding warrant out of the Hudson County Sheriff’s Office for $1,000. Hamdi was notified and reported to headquarters to post bail.

On Nov. 2, at approximately 1:50 p.m., detectives in the detective bureau at Borough Hall heard a patron at the court clerk’s office raising his voice. The clerk told the detectives that the individual, 35-yuear-old Jaimie Diaz of Jersey City had asked to have a $150 failure to appear warrant recalled and became unruly when she refused. He also failed to comply with the detectives after they directed him to calm down and he was subsequently arrested for the warrant and then charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.

East Rutherford

On Nov. 5, at approximately 2:45 p.m., a crossing guard reported that a man was being loud in the park and seemed to be intoxicated. When officers responded, they found that the man, Victor Callum, had three warrants, one for $500, one for $840, and one for $505. He was arrested and later transported to Bergen County Jail.
