Burglary/Theft

Carlstadt

On Sept. 30, at approximately 8:25 p.m., a complainant at GVS Trucking, located at 120 Kero Road, reported the theft of a 1995 Kenworth tractor from the property. The tractor was valued at approximately $17,000.

East Rutherford

On Oct. 1, at approximately 10:37 a.m., a Liverpool, NY resident who was parked along Route 120 South stated that the rear passenger’s side window on his vehicle was broken and a GPS system valued at $500 had been taken from the interior of the vehicle.

 

On Oct. 1, at approximately 9:31 a.m., a Lumberton, NY resident whose vehicle was parked at 850 Route 120 South stated that the driver’s side window of her vehicle was broken. Stolen was a navigation system valued at $600, an iPod valued at $200 and an adapter valued at $50.

 

On Sept. 29, at approximately 11:40 a.m., a Los Angeles resident stated that during the overnight hours, while his vehicle was parked in the lot of the Homestead Village, located at 300 Route 3 East, three suitcases and a carryall bag were stolen from his vehicle. The bags contained approximately 90 sets of shoes. The total cost of the stolen items was estimated at $4,000. The vehicle was a rental.

Lyndhurst

On Oct. 2, at approximately 5:18 a.m., a resident on the 300-block of Roosevelt Avenue reported the theft of a 2006 Ford Explorer while it was parked overnight in front of her home.

 

 

On Sept. 29, at approximately 1:37 p.m., a North Carolina resident reported the theft of $7,000 in cash from her hotel room at the Courtyard by Marriott, located at 1 Polito Avenue. The complainant told police that she had spent the night with a man and when she went to take a shower the morning of the complaint, she heard the door shut and found the money missing from a Godiva chocolate box she kept in her duffel bag.

 

 

On Sept. 29, at approximately 10:05 a.m., A complainant on the 600-block of 3rd Street reported that she returned home from shopping at two stores to find the front window screen missing on her residence. Inside, she reported finding dresser drawers ajar in the bedroom and a jewelry box moved, but nothing missing at the time. The Bergen County Investigation squad processed the scene.

 

On Sept. 28, between 3 and 3:30 p.m., police were responded to two separate complaints of attempted burglary at two apartments within 735 Riverside Avenue. In both cases, the doors to the apartments had been found damaged with pry marks and there was also damage noticed to the locks, door jams and chains. Nothing appeared to be missing.

 

 

On Sept. 28, at approximately 1:04 a.m., a Parsippany resident reported the theft of a 1992 green Honda Civic while it was parked on the 200-block of Livingston Avenue.

Rutherford

On Oct. 5, at approximately 7:40 a.m., a man reported his van was broken into sometime between 6 p.m. the night before and the time of the report while it was parked at the Extended Stay Motel. About $11,000 in tools were reported missing.

 

 

On Oct. 4, at approximately 6 p.m., a man reported someone broke into his car sometime between noon on Oct. 3 and noon on Oct. 4 while it was parked on Highland Cross. A laptop computer valued at $2,000 was reported missing. Police found no signs of forced entry.

 

 

On Oct. 3, at approximately 7 p.m., a woman on Irving Place reported her son’s bike was stolen from the front porch of her home sometime between noon and the time of the report.

 

 

On Oct. 2, at approximately 11 p.m., a man reported his company van was broken into sometime between 8 and 11 p.m. while it was parked at the Extended Stay Motel. The complainant reported that the lock was broken and the door was open but he couldn’t say yet whether anything had been stolen.

 

 

On Oct. 2, at approximately 6:30 p.m., a man reported his son’s bike was stolen from the bike rack at Union School sometime between noon and 3 p.m. on Sept. 27. The bike was valued at $350.

 

 

On Oct. 1, at approximately 9 p.m., a resident of Carmita Avenue reported his son’s bike was stolen from their backyard sometime between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. The bike was valued at $300.

 

 

On Oct. 1, at approximately 9 p.m., a complainant reported his daughter’s bike was stolen from outside a restaurant on Park Avenue while he and his family were having dinner. The three had ridden their bikes to the restaurant and left them outside. When they came back out, one of the bikes was missing. It was valued at $200.

 

 

On Sept. 30, at approximately 3 p.m., a complainant reported his company truck was broken into sometime between 6 p.m. Sept. 29 and the time of the report while it was parked at the Extended Stay Motel. A cordless drill valued at $80 and an expensive piece of fiber optics equipment valued at $20,000 were stolen from the truck. Police observed that the rear passenger’s side window was broken.

Rutherford

On Oct. 1, at approximately 7:30 p.m., police received a report of a young man selling marijuana in the Student Union at Felician College. Police responded and found a 16-year-old juvenile from Jersey City in possession of nine small bags of what appeared to be marijuana. Juvenile complaints were filed for possession of CDS under 50 grams and distributing CDS on school property.

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF

East Rutherford

On Sept. 29, at approximately 8:14 p.m., a Passaic resident stated that his vehicle, while parked at BJ’s Wholesale Club, located at 300 Route 17 North, had its driver’s side window knocked off and found it hanging.

 

On Sept. 29, at approximately 4:40 p.m., a New York City resident stated that his vehicle, while parked at BJ’s Wholesale Club, located at 300 Route 17 North, had its driver’s side window knocked off and it was hanging.

 

On Sept. 28, at approximately 1:42 p.m., a 17-year-old East Rutherford resident stated that her vehicle sustained scratches along the driver’s side, and that those scratches appeared to have been deliberately applied. The complainant believes the damage was inflicted sometime overnight between Sept. 24 to Sept. 25.

Lyndhurst

On Sept. 30, at approximately 1:10 p.m., a complainant on the 100-block of Page Avenue reported that someone had scratched the hood on her 2003 Chevy. Engraved into the hood’s paint was the phrase "I love you Mark/Kira".

Rutherford

On Oct. 3, at approximately 11 p.m., a student from Staten Island reported his car was scratched from the front to the back on both sides while it was parked at the Felician College lot.

DWI

Carlstadt

On Oct. 3, at approximately 5:15 a.m., an officer on patrol on Route 17 observed a vehicle parked in a non-conforming position at the Dunkin’ Donuts. When the officer went to check on the 1996 black Lincoln Town Car, he observed both the driver and passenger slumped over in the car. Once awoken, the officer could smell alcohol on both of their breaths and observed open containers in the car. After failing a breath test, the driver, Patricio Minchala-Paguay was placed under arrest for DWI. In addition, he was issued summonses for possession of an open alcoholic container in a motor vehicle, consumption of alcohol in a motor vehicle, driving while suspended and failure to obtain a valid New Jersey driver’s license.

Lyndhurst

On Sept. 29, at approximately 3:45 p.m., police responded to an accident at the corner of Kingsland Avenue and 3rd Street where they found 17-year-old Keith Parasmo of Lyndhurst pacing outside a 1999 Jeep. Officers smelt the odor of alcohol emanating from Parasmo’s breath as they questioned him and found an empty Coors Light can nearby. Parasmo told police there were two occupants in the car with him at the time of the accident, but they fled the scene before police arrival. He was arrested and charged with DWI and released.
