Marilyn I. Gillis
North Arlington — Marilyn I. Gillis (nee Cullinan) of North Arlington passed away Sept. 7, 2007 in her home. She was 75 years of age. Born in Queens, NY, Mrs. Gillis lived in North Arlington for most of her life.
Mrs. Gillis was employed as an office manager for General Adjustment Bureau in New York City for 20 years and later worked as a lunch aide for Queen of Peace Grammar School in North Arlington for five years. She retired three years ago.
Mrs. Gillis is survived by her children John Gillis and his wife Susan of Brick, Donna Gillis, Kurt Gillis and his wife Linda and Judy Benavides and her husband Beni, all of North Arlington. She is also survived by her grandchildren Kevin Gillis, Christian Rylick, Jennifer and Katie Gillis, Cory, Ronnie and Marin Benavides and sisters Eileen Mills and Maureen Burkhard.
A funeral was held Sept. 10 at Parow Funeral Home in North Arlington, followed by a Mass in Our Lady Queen of Peace Church in North Arlington. Interment was held in Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington.
Richard "Red" T. Casserly
North Arlington — Richard "Red" T. Casserly passed away Sept. 5, 2007 in Hackensack University Medical Center. He was 76 years of age. Mr. Casserly was born in the Bronx, NY and resided in Jersey City before moving to North Arlington in 1962.
He was employed as a mechanic for American Can Company in Jersey City and Edison for 30 years before retiring in 1984. Mr. Casserly served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was a member of the Kaejon Chapter 170 of the Korean War Veterans, Veterans of Foreign War Post 4697, Queen of Peace Knights of Columbus, Council 3428, and the B.P.O. of Elks #1996, all of North Arlington. Mr. Casserly was also a charter member of the Tin Can Sailors.
He was predeceased by his wife Theresa M. Casserly (nee Senk) and brother Joseph Casserly. Mr. Casserly is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law Kathleen and Richard De Cecco of Harrison, Janis and Joseph Nicolosi of Florida, son and daughter-in-law Richard and Alison Casserly of Robbinsville and son Ernest Casserly, grandchildren Allison and John De Cecco, Christopher and Bryan Perri, Justin Nicolosi, Ryan and Shannon Casserly, great-grandson Clifford De Cecco Boan, sisters Maureen Segda and Sharon Pressey, longtime companion Tommasina Belvedere and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends were received Sept. 8 at Parow Funeral Home in North Arlington. A funeral service was held Sept. 10, followed by a Mass in Our Lady Queen of Peace Church in North Arlington. Interment was held in Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington.

Rocco A. Matarazzo
North Arlington– Rocco A. Matarazzo of North Arlington and formerly of Lyndhurst passed away September 15, 2007. He was 80 years old.
Mr. Matarazzo was employed for the U.S. Postal Service out of East Rutherford for over 30 years before retiring in 1996. Prior to that, he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Mr. Matarazzo is survived by his wife Catherine (nee Brucato) and many dear friends.
Family and friends were received at Nazare Funeral Home in Lyndhurst on Sept. 15 and the procession moved to Sacred Heart Church for a funeral mass. Entombment was at the Holy Cross Chapel Mausoleum in North Arlington.
John J. Leonard
North Arlington — John J. Leonard of North Arlington and Bay Head passed away Sept. 4, 2007 in Select Specialty Hospital, Rochelle Park. He was 87 years of age. Born in Belfast, Ireland, he lived in Kearny before moving to North Arlington 56 years ago. Mr. Leonard also maintained a second residence in Bay Head.
He was employed as an agent at Prudential Insurance Company for 62 years and a partner in Leonard & Cheval Real Estate and Insurance in North Arlington. Mr. Leonard also served as commissioner on the North Arlington Shade Tree Commission and the Borough’s recreation commission.
Mr. Leonard is survived by his wife Florence Leonard (nee Ness), son Glenn T. Leonard, Esq. and wife Susan, son John (Jack) Leonard and his wife Annick, daughter Judy Cheval and husband William, daughter, Janice Duff and her husband George, grandchildren Tracey M. Barnes, Glenn T. Leonard Jr., M.D., Brian T. and Nolan R. Leonard, Courtney and William Cheval Jr. and Lindsay Duff. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren Justin R. Barnes, Jordan. R. Barnes, Madeline and Nathaniel Leonard, brothers Thomas G., George P. and Edmund F. Leonard and sister Anna La Rosa.
A funeral was held Sept. 8 at Parow Funeral Home in North Arlington, followed by a Mass in Our Lady Queen of Peace Church in North Arlington. Interment was held in George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus.

Eugenia Leszczynski
East Rutherford — Eugenia Leszczynski of East Rutherford passed away Sept. 10, 2007. He was 92 years of age. Born in Poland, she moved to the United States in 1962.
She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Leszczynski was predeceased by her husband, John Leszczynski, and her son, Lucjan Leszczynski. She is survived by her children, Krystof Leszczynski of East Rutherford, Celina Bednarz of Wallington, Janina Acosta of Florida, Terry Leszczynski of North Carolina and Teresa Willie of North Carolina and 13 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Friends and family were received at the Kimak Funeral Home in Carlstadt on Sept. 12. A funeral was held on Sept. 13 at the Kimak Funeral Home in Carlstadt followed by mass at St. Joseph’s Church in East Rutherford and interment at St. Michael’s Cemetery in South Hackensack.

Anne E. Howell
North Arlington — Anne E. Howell (nee Hogan) passed away Sept. 10, 2007 in Clara Maas Medical Center in Belleville. She was 85 years of age. She was born in Jersey City and lived in Union City before moving to North Arlington 55 years ago.
She was a homemaker and a member of the North Arlington Senior Citizens Club.
Mrs. Howell was predeceased by her husband Clifford H. Howell. She is survived by her son Clifford P. Howell of Keyport, grandsons Paul and Brian, great-granddaughter Danielle and her sisters-in-law Irene, Violet and Georgette.

Jean A. DiNardo
Lyndhurst — Jean A. DiNardo (nee Buschelle) passed away Sept. 13, 2007 in Horizon Manor South in Montclair. She was 95 years of age. Born in Jersey City, she lived in Lyndhurst before moving to Bloomfield three years ago.
She was a secretary for ACF Industries in New York, NY for 30 years, before retiring in 1976. She was a member of the Lyndhurst Senior Citizens.
Mrs. DiNardo was predeceased by her husband Frank. She is survived by her daughter Annette DiNardo Lawrence, granddaughter Christine Lawrence and her grandsons Brian and wife Joyce Lawrence and Kenneth Lawrence.
Friends and family were received at Ippolito-Stellato Funeral Home in Lyndhurst Sept. 16. A funeral was held Sept. 17 at Ippolito-Stellato Funeral Home in Lyndhurst followed by Mass in Sacred Heart R.C. Church in Lyndhurst and interment in Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington.

John F. Gehrmann, Jr.
John F. Gehrmann, Jr. passed away Sept. 10, 2007 in his home in Kearny. He was 45 years of age. Mr. Gehrmann was born in Passaic and resided in North Arlington before moving to Kearny.
He was employed as a software engineer with ITT ES/EW in Clifton for the last 13 years. Prior, he was employed at Lear Siegler Avionics, Standard Electrik-Lorenz (West Germany), Smith Industries, ITT D/CD and A/CD, BAE Systems, Schering Plough and Bristol-Meyer Squibb. Mr. Gehrmann volunteered his time as a Pee-Wee football coach with the Kearny Generals for five years, was a member of the Kearny Little League for 10 years where he coached for Lee’s Florist and was a volunteer sports writer for the Kearny Observer.
He was predeceased by his brother Richard Gehrmann. He is survived by his wife Mary C. Gehrmann (nee Gomez), children, John F. III, Christopher, Erin, Kevin, Karin and Joseph Gehrmann, parents John F. and Marie Gehrmann, mother-in-law Catherine Gomez, sisters Ann Intorp, Joyce Chapman, brother Frank Gehrmann, sisters-in-law Lynn Gehrmann, Nancy Gehrmann, brothers-in-law Norbert Intorp, Paul Chapman, seven nieces and two nephews.
A funeral was held Sept.13 at Parow Funeral Home in North Arlington, followed by Mass in Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, also in North Arlington.
