Joseph F. Hohl, Jr.
Lyndhurst — Joseph F. Hohl, Jr. of Lyndhurst passed away Aug. 29, 2007 in the Hospice of New Jersey in Wayne. He was 64 years of age. Mr. Hohl was born in Passaic and lived in East Rutherford before moving to Lyndhurst, where he resided for most of his life.
Mr. Hohl was employed as a record keeper for the Bergen County Board of Elections for 25 years before retiring in 2003.
He is survived by his sister Rosemary Wey of Lyndhurst, nieces Marilyn Cestari and Patti Burke, both of Tequesta, FL and nephew Clement (Mickey) Wey of Lyndhurst.
Family and friends were received Sept. 3 at Ippolito-Stellato Funeral Home in Lyndhurst. A funeral was held Sept. 4, followed by interment in Crest Haven Memorial Park in Clifton.

Nancy Anne Whitlow
Carlstadt — Nancy Anne Whitlow (nee Roland) of Carlstadt passed away Aug. 29, 2007. She was 74 years of age. Mrs. Whitlow was born in Passaic and lived there before moving to Carlstadt 55 years ago.
She was employed as a secretary for the Carlstadt First Presbyterian Church for 27 years before retiring in 2004. Mrs. Whitlow was a member of the Carlstadt First Presbyterian Church congregation, Women’s Association of the Ladies Aid Society, choir member, elder, former deacon, clerk of the session, VFW Ladies Auxiliary Carlstadt Post 3149, American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Carlstadt Post 69 and Carlstadt Friendship Club.
Mrs. Whitlow was predeceased by her husband James Whitlow. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law Diane and Thomas Ondrof of Carlstadt, Lee Ann and Kyle LeMay of Wisconsin, Nancy and Karl Ross of Carlstadt, Jennifer and Anthony Ranne of Carlstadt, 11 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and sister Joan Rimasse of Suffolk, VA.
A funeral service was held Sept. 1 at the First Presbyterian Church in Carlstadt, followed by interment in Hillside Cemetery in Lyndhurst. Arrangements were made by Kimak Funeral Home, Inc. 425 Broad St in Carlstadt.

Agnes Baker
North Arlington — Agnes Baker (nee Truskowski) of North Arlington passed away Aug. 29, 2007 in the St. Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston. She was 93 years of age. Mrs. Baker was born in Newark and resided there before moving to North Arlington 60 years ago.
She was employed as a meat hostess at the ShopRite supermarket in Hasbrouck Heights for 25 years before retiring in 1979.
Mrs. Baker was predeceased by her husband Joseph E. Baker. She is survived by son William Baker of Rahway, daughter Marie T. Napoleon of North Arlington and grandchildren Jeanette Gribbon and Thomas Baker.
A funeral service was held Sept. 1 at Parow Funeral Home in North Arlington, thence to a Mass in Our Lady Queen of Peace Church in North Arlington. Interment was held in Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington.
Robert Olawski
Lyndhurst — Robert Olawski of Lyndhurst passed away Sept. 3, 2007. He was 59 years of age. Mr. Olawski was born in Newark.
He was employed as an engineer for Honeywell of Teterboro for many years. Mr. Olawski was also a veteran of the United States Army.
He was predeceased by his parents Edwin and Helen Olawski. He is survived by his companion Nanette Turi, brother Edward and nephews Michael and Edward.
Family and friends were received Sept. 6 at Macagna Diffily Funeral Home in Rutherford. A funeral was held Sept. 7, followed by interment in Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington.
William Douglas Howatson
North Arlington — William Douglas Howatson of North Arlington passed away Sept. 5, 2007 at the Hackensack University Medical Center in Hackensack. He was 81 years of age. Mr. Howatson was born in Kearny and lived in North Arlington for the past 49 years.
Before retiring, he had owned Flowers by Douglas in North Arlington for over 25 years. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of the American Legion in Kearny. He was a fireman for the North Arlington Volunteer Fire Department Ladder & Hose Co. 3 and a member of the North Arlington Lion’s Club.
He is survived by his wife Janet (nee Reimer); his children, Patrician Duarte and husband Dennis, Peter Howatson and wife Susan and Brian Howatson and wife Lisa; his grandchildren, Jillian and Amelia Duarte and Amanda, Emily, Jonathon and Nicholas Howatson; his great-grandchild, Lydia Schwartz, and his siblings, Betty Baird and Ellen Scheel.
Funeral services were held on Sept. 9 at the Parow Funeral Home in North Arlington. Donations may be made in Mr. Howatson’s name to the North Arlington Volunteer Fire Department, 3 Legion Place, North Arlington, NJ 07031.
Robert F. Fescoe, Sr.
Carlstadt — Robert F. Fescoe, Sr. of Carlstadt passed away Sept. 2, 2007. Mr. Fescoe was born in Jersey City and lived in Carlstadt for 17 years.
He worked as a supervisor for the U.S. Postal Service in Paterson. He was an army veteran. He was a member of the Garden State Chevelles, the Carlstadt Ambulance Corps. and the North Arlington Ambulance Corps.
He is survived by his wife, Josephine J. Fescoe (nee Naviello) of Carlstadt; his children, Robert F. Fescoe, Jr. of Carlstadt, Carol Ann Fescoe of Lyndhurst and Anthony S. Fescoe of Dumont; his grandchildren James, Samantha, Johnny and Tyler and his sister, Patricia Warford.
Friends and family were received at the Kimak Funeral Home in Carlstadt on Sept. 6. A funeral was held at the Kimak Funeral Home in Carlstadt and at Sacred Heart Church in Lyndhurst on Sept. 7 followed by interment at Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington.
Dorothy Mullany
Rutherford – Dorothy Mullany (nee Long) of Rutherford passed away Sept. 4, 2007. She was 80 years of age.
She was predeceased by her husband Donald Mullany and her sister Kathryn Hauser. She is survived by her daugthers Karen McLoughlin and Patricia Mullany, her grandchildren Colleen and Thomas, her brother Robert J. Long and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends were received at the Macagna Diffily Funeral Home in Rutherford for a funeral on Sept. 2. A funeral mass was held at St. Mary Roman Catholic Church in Rutherford immediately thereafter and interment at Cemetery of the Holy Cross in Brooklyn, New York.
Madeline Schmatz
Rutherford — Madeline "Mickey" Schmatz (nee Mangone) of Rutherford passed away Sept. 1, 2007. She was 85 years of age. Mrs. Schwatz lived in Rutherford since 1972.
She worked in Jerry’s Restaurant for over ten years before retiring. She was a parishioner of St. Joseph’s Church.
She was predeceased by her husband, Richard A. Schmatz, and her siblings, Frank Mangone, Joseph Mangone, Peter Mangone, Anthony Mangone, Jerry Mangone, Fanny Tumillo, Anne Domenick, Louise Sanfilippo and Rose Flenner. She is survived by her sisters, Angelina Russo of East Rutherford and Carmela Damora of Lyndhurst; her goddaughter, Ginger Crawford; her nieces, Barbara Brummer, Joanne Mangone; her nephew Charles Flenner and many other nieces and nephews.
Family and friends were received Sept. 5 at the Kimak Funeral Home in Carlstadt. A funeral was held Sept. 6 at the funeral and at St. Joseph’s R.C. Church in East Rutherford, followed by entombment at Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington. Donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 19 Schoolhouse Road, Somerset, NJ 08873.
Anthony Bellina, Sr.
Carlstadt — Anthony Bellina Sr. of Carlstadt passed away Aug. 26, 2007. He was 71 years of age. Mr. Bellina lived in Carlstadt for over 50 years.
He was employed as a product manager for Matheson Gas Products in East Rutherford for 45 years before retiring in 2003. He was an Army veteran of Korean War and a member of the Lyndhurst AMVETS. He was a parishioner of St. Joseph’s Church in East Rutherford.
He is survived by his wife, Dolores Bellina (nee Shevak); his children, Lynda Bellina-Abreu and husband Luis of East Rutherford, Anthony Bellina, Jr. and wife Judy of Carlstadt, Donna Bellina and companion Harry Harth of Lyndhurst and Freddie Bellina of Wood-Ridge; grandchildren Anthony III, Alexa, Daniel, Jamie and Max and his sister, Barbara Alonzo of Clifton.
Family and friends were received Tues. Sept. 4 at Kimak Funeral Home in Carlstadt. A funeral was held there and at St. Joseph’s R.C. Church in East Rutherford, followed by interment at Berry Lawn Cemetery in Carlstadt.
Rose DeGennaro
North Arlington – Rose DeGennaro passed away Sept. 2, 2007. She was 97 years of age. Mrs. DeGennaro was born in Italy and lived in Tuscon, AZ and Hoboken before moving to North Arlington five years ago.
She worked as a dressmaker in Hoboken and New York City for years before she retired. She was a member of the Activity and Nutrition Center in North Arlington.
She was predeceased by husband Anthony DeGennaro and her son Nat DeGennaro. She is survived by her brother Phil DeBari, her children Mary LeGoff and John DeGennaro, eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
A funeral was held on Sept. 6 at the Parow Funeral Home, followed by a funeral mass at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church and entombment in Holy Cross Chapel Mausoleum in North Arlington.
Bernard C. Sova
Lyndhurst — Bernard C. Sova of Lyndhurst passed away Aug. 31, 2007. He was 84 years of age. Mr. Sova was born in Jersey City and lived in Lyndhurst for the past 52 years.
He worked as a tax consultant with H & R Block in Nutley for 25 years before retiring three years ago. He was an IRS enrolled agent. Previously, he worked as a chemical engineer with Reichold Chemical at Bayway Refinery for over 20 years. He was an army veteran of World War II.
He is survived by his siblings, Edward V. Sova of Bayonne, Eugene M. Sova of Belmar and Leona Kozuch and husband Michael of North Arlington; his cousins, Marlene and Hugh Clarke of Lyndhurst and his many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
A funeral was held on Sept. 6 at the Parow Funeral Home in North Arlington, followed by a funeral mass at St. Michael’s Church in Lyndhurst and interment in Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington.
