Burglary/Theft
East Rutherford
On Sept. 5, at approximately 1:36 p.m., a police officer responded to 45 Carlton Ave. and spoke to complainant a complainant who stated that one of his former tenants at had removed the circuit breakers from the property’s electrical box. The box had been removed before the tenant moved out of the building on Aug. 20.
On Sept. 3, at approximately 2:43 p.m., police responded to complainant who stated that a portable Garmin GPS unit had been stolen from her rental car which was parked at the Sheraton Hotel, located 2 Meadowlands Plaza Drive.
On Sept. 3, at approximately 10:21 a.m., police responded to complainant from Massachusetts who stated that he observed a male smashing the driver’s side rear window of his vehicle and removing several wires and a Dell laptop computer. The male fled the scene in a large SUV, in which he noted the license plate. The plate was traced to a blue 2004 Ford Expedition registered to a New Providence, NJ resident and it was discovered that the plate was reported as having been stolen on Sept. 1 through Chatham Police. Bergen County Police are on the lookout for the vehicle.
North Arlington
On Sept. 3, at approximately 1:30 p.m., a victim reported parking a 2002 white Acura RSX on Noel Drive off of Ridge Road. Upon returning at 11 p.m., the vehicle was gone. Police found the passenger’s side window lying in the grass nearby broken but still in tact. The vehicle was valued at $3,500.
On Sept. 1, at approximately 9 a.m., the supervisor of Mac Tech reported a theft of a Miller Bobcat welder model 225 from the parking lot at 2 Disposal Road. The welder was valued at $5,000.
On Sept. 6, at approximately 6:16 a.m., officers were dispatched to Elite Fitness at 575 Ridge Road on a report of a man struck by a vehicle. Police said his story was inconsistent. They determined he had a criminal warrant for $3,500 out of Jersey City. He was treated for injuries, placed under arrest for the warrant and brought to headquarters. Earlier, police were dispatched to Wash & Stop at 14 Ridge Park Drive on an activated burglar alarm. They found damage to the rear glass door and a hole near the door handle. The door was unlocked, but it appeared no one had entered the store. Police found blood on the scene and took a sample. Police questioned Jack about his involvement with burglary and determined he committed it. He was released on $1,000 bail and turned over to Jersey City on their warrant.

On Aug. 31, at approximately 11:15 p.m., staff at Molly’s bar ejected 23-year-old Joseph Lehman of Bloomfield for disorderly conduct. After leaving the bar, The actor allegedly smashed out the front plate glass window of Chase Bank at 20 Ridge Road. He fled the area and police found him hiding at the Riverview Garden apartment complex. He was still bleeding from injuries caused by breaking the window. He was placed under arrest for criminal mischief and treated by emergency services at headquarters. He was processed and released on summons.
On Sept. 4, at approximately 8:20 a.m., a victim reported finding damage to a 2002 Acura. An unknown actor broke the window to the front passenger’s side door.
On Sept. 6, at approximately 2:09 a.m., officers were dispatched to 44 Rutherford Place on a report of a group of juveniles smashing driver’s side mirrors and running north on Rutherford Place. Police searched the area, but did not locate them. One caller reported observing two to three males, aged 15 to 16, breaking the mirrors on six vehicles.

On Sept. 2, at approximately 1:18 a.m., officers on patrol heard screaming from the Euro Lounge at 185 River Road. Euro Lounge security removed 44-year-old Sharon Diaz-Cobo of Wallington for screaming and causing a scene. Police asked her to leave the area and she became belligerent and continued to scream. She was placed under arrest for disorderly conduct. She was charged for trespassing and later processed and released to a responsible party.
DWI

On Sept. 6, at approximately 2 a.m., officers observed a red vehicle speeding and crossing the double-yellow lines while travelling eastbound on the Belleville Turnpike. Police stopped the vehicle and detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage on the driver’s breath. After failing a field sobriety test, 24-year-old Paulo Pereira of Kearny was arrested for driving while intoxicated. His 1992 Toyota was impounded and he was issued summonses for careless driving, crossing the double yellow lines and driving without a license. He was processed and released to a responsible party.
On Sept. 2, at 3:45 p.m., officers were dispatched to the area of Park Avenue and Beech Street on a report of a motor vehicle accident. A vehicle struck other vehicles parked in front of 44 and 50 Park Ave. and 78 Chestnut Street. Police found the vehicle and stopped the driver. The driver, 46-year-old Marie Sarra, appeared to be impaired and police determined she had taken multiple medications. She was arrested for driving while intoxicated and issued summonses for careless driving, leaving the scene of an accident and failure to report an accident. She was processed and released to a responsible party.
On Sept. 2, at approximately 3:20 a.m., officers on patrol observed a silver sedan crossover into the southbound lane on River Road. Police stopped the vehicle and detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage on the driver’s breath. After failing a field sobriety test, 22-year-old Rahih Samuels was arrested for driving while intoxicated. He was also determined to have a suspended license and two traffic warrants out of Newark for $264 and $200. After processing, he was released to a responsible party.
On Sept. 1, at 1:11 a.m., officer on patrol observed a small black vehicle speeding on River Road. The vehicle started went through a red light at the Belleville Turnpike and police stopped the driver. Police then detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage on the driver’s breath. After failing a field sobriety test, police arrested 38-year-old Elizabeth Rodriguez of Kearny for driving while intoxicated. She was also issued a summons for running a red light. She was processed and released to a responsible party.
On Sept. 1, at approximately 1:07 a.m., officers on patrol observed a black Jeep going 48 miles per hour in a 30 mile per hour zone on River Road near the Belleville Turnpike. Police stopped the car and detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage on the driver’s breath. After failing a field sobriety test, police arrested 41-year-old Luis Medina of Bethlehem, PA for driving while intoxicated. His vehicle was impounded and police discovered he had a suspended New Jersey driver’s license. He obtained a Pennsylvania license after it was suspended in New Jersey. He was issued summonses for speeding, careless driving, no insurance, driving while suspended and applying for a license in another state while suspended in New Jersey. Medina also had a $250 traffic warrant out of Newark and was released to a responsible party after posting bail on the Newark warrant.
On Aug. 30, at approximately 4:09 a.m., police responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident on Belmont Avenue off of Prospect Avenue. Twenty-four-year-old David Kim sideswiped a vehicle and ran into the rear of a second. Upon speaking to Kim, police detected the odor of alcohol. After failing a field sobriety test, he was arrested for driving while intoxicated. In plain view on the passenger seat, police found a large clear plastic bag containing marijuana and four other bags containing hundreds of smaller empty plastic bags. Police believed Kim was under the influence of alcohol and marijuana. He was issued summons for possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of drugs in a motor vehicle, reckless driving, driving while suspended and no insurance. A tow truck removed his vehicle and he was processed and released to a responsible party.
Warrants
East Rutherford
On Sept. 7 at approximately 4:20 a.m., on an inquiry from the Union Police Department, an arrest warrant was confirmed by East Rutherford for Harry Camacho of Elizabeth for the sum of $200 which was outstanding. A court date of Sept. 12 has been set for Union Municipal Court.
On Sept. 5, at approximately 5:04 p.m., police responded to the Park Tavern, located at 250 Park Ave., and spoke with 44-year-old Albert Gentry of Lyndhurst who was known to have had an outstanding arrest warrant in the sum of $3,780 from the Bergen County Sheriff’s Department for civil contempt and non-payment of child support. Gentry was arrested and brought to the police headquarters where he was placed in a cell to await pickup by the Bergen County Sheriff’s Department.
On Sept. 4, at approximately 2:09 p.m., a Medford police officer reported having 26-year-old Steven M. Marchesani (Glendora, NJ in his custody. Marchesani was discovered to have an ATS warrant in the amount of $50,000 outstanding, with no 10% option. The warrant was confirmed by East Rutherford police and Marchesani was transported to the Bergen County Jail.
On Sept. 2, at approximately 11:40 a.m., an East Rutherford police officer stopped Manuel D. Perez, 43, of Paterson on Route 3 East. Perez was found to have an outstanding $300 arrest warrant from the City of Passaic. A court date of Oct. 10 at 5:30 p.m. has been set at the East Rutherford Municipal Court.
