Zofia Lypowy
Lyndhurst - Zofia Lypowy (nee Potoczniak) of Lyndhurst passed away Aug. 11, 2007 at the age of 72. She was born in Poland and resided there before moving to Jersey City and later Lyndhurst, where she made her home for 45 years.
Mrs. Lypowy worked as a homemaker. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and St. Michael’s R.C. Church in Lyndhurst.
She is survived by her husband Walter Lypowy, Sr., son Walter Lypowy and his wife Debi, daughter Cathie Lypowy, daughter Linda Ceneri and her husband Tony, brothers Chester, Raymond, Joseph and Marty Potoczniak, granddaughter Jacqueline Lypowy and grandsons Matthew Lypowy, Cole, Lyke and Nate Ceneri.
Family and friends were received Aug. 15 at Ippolito-Stellato Funeral Home in Lyndhurst. A funeral service was held Aug. 16, followed by a Mass in St. Michael’s R.C. Church in Lyndhurst. Interment was held in Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington.

John Riordan
Lyndhurst - John Riordan of Lyndhurst passed away Aug. 11, 2007 at the age of 82. He was born in County Clerk in Ireland and moved to Bronx NY in 1954, then to Lyndhurst where he resided for 44 years.
Mr. Riordan was employed as a forklift driver for Merchants Refrigeration in Secaucus for 32 years and retired in 1992. He was also an Irish dance shoe supplier for many years. Mr. Riordan was a member of The Gaelic Athletic Association.
He is survived by his wife Ellen Riordan (nee Pierce), children Ellen Riordan Ross and husband Gerry of Wood-Ridge, Michael Riordan and wife Geraldine of Brigantine and Thomas Riordan and wife Maureen of Clifton, siblings Sr. Denise O’Riordan of Cleveland, OH and Taige O’Riordan of County Tipperary, Ireland. Mr. Riordan is also survived by his grandchildren Julia, John Bridget and Owen.
Family and friends were received Aug. 13 and 14 at Nazare Memorial Home in Lyndhurst. A funeral was held Aug. 15, followed by a Mass in Sacred Heart Church in Lyndhurst. Interment was in Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington.
Marie E. Bell
Marie E. Bell (nee Dorando) of Wood-Ridge passed away Aug. 11, 2007. She was 83 years of age. Mrs. Bell was born and raised in Lyndhurst and moved to Wood-Ridge in 1951.
Mrs. Bell was employed as a Wireman for I.T.T. Nutley for 13 years before retiring in 1958. She was a member and recording secretary for IUECIO Local 447.
She was predeceased by her husband John W. Bell. She is survived by her son Davis. J. Bell of Wood-Ridge and sister Connie De Vone of Las Vegas, NV.
Family and friends were received Aug. 13 at Nazare Memorial Home in Lyndhurst. A funeral was held Aug. 14, followed by a Mass in Church of the Assumption in Wood-Ridge. Entombment was held in Holy Cross Chapel Mausoleum in North Arlington.
Maria Cruz
North Arlington - Maria Cruz (nee Almeida) of North Arlington passed away Aug.9, 2007 at the age of 80 in Clara Maass Medical Center in Belleville. She was born in Portugal and resided in Newark before moving to North Arlington in 1974.
She was predeceased by her husband Manuel Da Cruz Pina and one brother. She is survived by her sons John and Joe Pina, two sisters, three brothers and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral was held Aug. 13 at Parow Funeral Home in North Arlington. A Mass followed in Queen of Peace Church in North Arlington. Interment was in Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington.
Joann Mason
Joann Mason (nee Mc Call) of Landing and formerly of North Arlington passed away Aug. 9, 2007 in St. Clare’s Hospital in Dover. She was 74 years of age.
Mrs. Mason was born in Wilkes-Barre, PA and resided in Newark and later in North Arlington for 35 years before moving to Landing three years ago.
She was employed in the clerical department of N.J. Bell Company in Newark 1951-1957.
Mrs. Mason is survived by her husband William, daughters Ann Kurta of North Arlington, Teresa Mason and Mary Ryall of Landing, grandchildren Meghan Kurta and Caitlyn Ryall and brother Robert Mc Call of Woodstown.
A funeral was held at Parow Funeral Home in North Arlington Aug. 11, followed by a Mass in Our Lady Queen of Peace Church in North Arlington. Entombment was in Holy Cross Chapel Mausoleum in North Arlington.

Alice O. Taylor Luthcke
Alice O. Taylor Luthcke (nee Zazula) of Toms River and formerly of Lyndhurst passed away Aug. 9, 2007. Mrs. Taylor Luthcke was born in Jersey City and lived in Lyndhurst before moving to Toms River in 1999.
She worked as a waitress and hostess for Caughey’s Sea Food Restaurant in East Rutherford for 15 years before retiring in 1980. She was a member of the Saddle Brook VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 3484.
She was predeceased by her husbands James Taylor and Harold A. Luthcke. She is survived by her daughter Tracy Yosco and husband Vic of Saddle Brook, step-granddaughters Jessica and Stephanie, her brothers John Zazula of Carlstadt and Michael Zazula of Hasbrouck Heights and sister Helen Sullivan of Avenel.
A funeral service was held at Kimak Funeral Home in Carlstadt Aug. 13, followed by interment in Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington.

Kathleen Veith
Carlstadt - Kathleen Veith (nee Harrison) of Carlstadt and formerly of East Rutherford passed away Aug. 10, 2007. She was 51 years of age.
Mrs. Veith was born in New York, NY and resided in East Rutherford before moving to Carlstadt in 1989.
She worked as an office manager for Dr. Mark Wiesen in Teaneck for the past five years. She was a parishioner of St. Joseph’s R.C. Church in East Rutherford.
Mrs. Veith was predeceased by her husband, Thomas P. Veith, and her brothers, William H. Harrison and John J. Harrison. She is survived by her son Danny T. Veith of Carlstadt, sister Dorothy G. Pell and husband Kevin of Lake Ariel, PA, mother-in-law Doris Veith (nee Luther) of Little Ferry, her sister-in-law Patricia Balsamo and husband Francis of Little Ferry and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral was held Aug. 13 at St. Joseph’s Church in East Rutherford followed by interment in Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington.
Arrangements were made by Kimak Funeral Home in Carlstadt.
Rev. Joseph L. Cassidy
Rutherford – Rev. Joseph L. Cassidy of Rutherford and formerly of Jersey City passed away Aug. 11, 2007.
Rev. Cassidy served as a priest for the Archdiocese of Newark for 62 years. He had been in residence at St. John Vianney Retirement Residence in Rutherford for several years. He was a Third Order Franciscan and associated with the Dominican Friars. He served within the Archdiocese and in Salamanca, Spain and Mexico. At St. Mary’s Parish in Rutherford, he served as chaplain of the Knights of Columbus and as moderator of the Altar-Rosary Society. He was also an author, pilot, attorney and linguist.
Rev. Cassidy was predeceased by his parents Mary Ann Connor and Francis Vincent Cassidy, sisters Mary Isabelle Johnson and husband Edward daughter Ursula and his sister Anne Cassidy Cliggett and husband Charles. He is survived by nieces and nephews Bernadette Johnson Zappala and husband Al, Edward Johnson and wife Aileen, Anne Maureen Cliggett Hoeing and husband Bill, Margaret Mary Cliggett Reynolds and husband Farrell, Robert Meyers and wife Aileen, Richard Meyers and wife Trish, Catherine Snow Johnson McGovern and husband Charles, Charles Francis Cliggett and wife Nancy, Francis Joseph Cliggett, Rosemary Cliggett Caulfield and husband Joseph, and Jean Marie Meyers Yazi and husband Joseph and 28 grandnieces and nephews and 15 great-nieces and nephews.
Friends and family were received at St. Mary’s Church in Rutherford on Aug. 15. A funeral Mass was held in St. Mary’s church Aug. 16 followed by entombment in Holy Cross Mausoleum in North Arlington.
Janice R. Sheldon
Lyndhurst - Janice R. Sheldon (nee De Garcia of Lyndhurst passed away Aug.14, 2007. She was 68 years of age.
Mrs. Sheldon was born and raised in Jersey City and moved to Lyndhurst in 1964. She worked as a homemaker.
She is survived by her husband Kenneth W. Sheldon, daughters and sons-in-law Lynne and Thomas Skea of Madison, Jane and Hugh Hall of Upper Montclair, Lisa and John Krase of Towaco, daughter Jill Sheldon of Bloomfield and son and daughter-in-law Kenneth M. and Sarah Sheldon of Hoboken. Mrs. Sheldon is also survived by grandchildren Thomas and Daniel Skea, Hugh and Bridget Hall, Jack, Matthew and Kevin Krase and Jessica Fedroff.
Family and friends were received Aug. 16 at Nazare Memorial Home in Lyndhurst. A funeral was held Aug. 17, followed by a Mass in Our Lady Queen of Peace Church in North Arlington. Entombment was in Holy Cross Chapel Mausoleum in North Arlington.
