Harold J. Catt

RUTHERFORD-Harold J. Catt of Rutherford passed away April 24. He was 78 years old. Mr. Catt was born in Jersey City.

He worked as an auto mechanic for Schiavone Construction in Secaucus. He was an Army Veteran of the Korean War and received two Purple Heart Awards. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 109 and the VFW Post 227, both in Rutherford. 

Mr. Catt is predeceased by sister Rosalie and brother Frank Dawson. He is survived by wife Catherine (nee Galastro), sons John and Steven Catt and sisters Ruth Carroll, Audrey Andrascik and Lucille Liantonia. He is also survived by grandchildren Jeffrey and Angie Catt as well as many loving nieces and nephews. 

On April 28, relatives and friends attended the funeral service from Macagna-Diffily-Onorato Funeral Home in Rutherford. The service was followed by interment in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.

Evelyn Jean Kosinski

CARLSTADT-Evelyn Jean Kosinski (nee Zukas) of Carlstadt passed away April 24. She was 75 years old. Mrs. Kosinski was born in Carbondale, PA and lived in Carlstadt for over 30 years.

She was a homemaker as well as member of the Vic Hoofers, the Carlstadt VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 3149, the Carlstadt Senior Friendship Club and the Wallington AARP Chapter 4115.

Mrs. Kosinski is predeceased by husband Frank Kosinski and sisters Helen Shevchuk and Mary Malinowski. She is survived by daughter Barbara Bianchi Reyes of Queen Creek, AZ and grandchildren Joseph Reyes, Michael Reyes, Aislinn Reyes and step-grandchildren Crystal and Fallon Haire. She is also survived by siblings Vincent Zukas of Pine City, NY, Anthony Zukas of Haverhill, MA, John Zukas of Plaistow, NH, George Zukas of Pine City, NY, Joseph Kase of West Minster, MD, Anne Delaney of North Kingstown, RI, Margaret Poljanic of upstate NY and Catherine Bausmith of Carlstadt. Mrs. Kosinski is also survived by nieces Theresa Manning, Lisa Munson, Carol Sterling and several other nieces and nephews.

On April 28, relatives and friends attended the funeral from Kimak Funeral Home of Carlstadt and then the funeral mass from St. Joseph’s R.C. Church in East Rutherford. The services were followed by interment in St. Michael’s Cemetery in South Hackensack.

Anthony Steven Larkin

RUTHERFORD-Anthony Steven Larkin of Rutherford passed away Friday, April 25. He was 43 years old.

He graduated from Rutherford High School in 1975 and attended Johnson Whales University in South Carolina. He was a chef and worked in many restaurants in the Metropolitan area.

Mr. Larkin is survived by parents Dr. Charles and Blanche Larkin, nephews Jonah, Tommy and Freddy, nieces Erica and Jennette Larkin and aunts Pauline Daye of Jersey City and Theresa Larkin of Mt. Arlington. He is also survived by grand niece Jazmine and grand nephew Landon.

On May 1, relatives and friends attended the funeral service from Rhema Worship Center in Hackensack. The service was followed by interment in Hillside Cemetery, Lyndhurst. Arrangements were made by Collins-Calhoun Funeral Home in Rutherford.

Memorial donations may be made to Bergen County Regional Hospital, 230 East Ridgewood Ave., Paramus NJ 07652.

Catherine D’Alessandro

NORTH ARLINGTON- Catherine D’Alessandro (nee DePinto) of North Arlington passed away Monday, April 28. She was 79 years old. Mrs. D’Alessandro was born and raised in Jersey City, lived in Toms River for 15 years and had lived in North Arlington for the past two years.

She was a homemaker.

Mrs. D’Alessandro is predeceased by husband Dominick D’Alessandro. She is survived by children Esther Giampoala and her husband, Matt, of North Arlington and Joseph D’Alessandro and his wife, Debra, of Lyndhurst and grandchildren Lisa White, Laura Townson, Joseph and Carmen Lo Re, Michael and Matthew Giampoala, Nancy, Jamie, Joseph Jr., Michael, David and Adam D’Alessandro. She is also survived by four great-grandchildren and siblings Esther Barioni, Martha Gentiel, Sebastian and Louis DePinto and her companion, Joseph Tarrantino, Sr.

On May 2, relatives and friends attended the funeral from Nazare Memorial Home in Lyndhurst and then to the funeral mass from Our Lady Queen of Peace Church in North Arlington. The services were followed by interment in Holy Cross Cemetery, also in North Arlington.

Marie A. Negro

CARLSTADT- Marie A. Negro of Carlstadt passed away April 29. She was 38. Marie was a lifelong resident of Carlstadt.

She worked for Pathways to Independence, Inc. in Kearny as a repacker for the last three years.

Marie is survived by parents Albert F. Negro, Sr. and Theresa Negro (nee Elliot) and siblings Margaret Negro of Carlstadt, Albert F. Negro, Jr. of Carlstadt, Sheryl Negro of Carlstadt, Thomas Negro and his wife, Kara, of Wood-Ridge, Angie Negro of California, Roy Bray of Florida, Brian Bray and his wife, Jana, of Georgia, Timothy Bray and his wife, Joanna, of Kearny, Matthew Simon and his fiancee, Nicole, of Clifton, Trisha Zalewski and her husband, Pete, of Passaic, China Melendez and her fiance, Kenny, of Lodi and Orlando Melendez of Carlstadt. She is also survived by grandparents Anna Elliott of Toms River and Henry and Eleanor Campbell of Rhode Island, as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Arrangements were made by the Kimak Funeral Home in Carlstadt. A private cremation is planned.

James G. Martin

LYNDHURST-James G. Martin of Lyndhurst passed away Wednesday, April 16. He was 51 years old. Mr. Martin was born in Kearny and had been a resident of Lyndhurst most of his life.

He is predeceased by his parents James C. Martin and Doris Martin (nee Fairlie) and brother Glenn Martin. He is survived by wife Diane (nee DeSordi) and daughter, Ashley Martin of Lyndhurst. He is also survived by sister Donna Capozzi of West Caldwell and by four nephews.

Arrangements were made by Nazare Memorial Home, Inc., Lyndhurst. A private cremation was held.

Sheena Ann McDermott

NORTH ARLINGTON-Sheena Ann McDermott of North Arlington passed away Sunday, April 27. She was 44 years old. Ms. McDermott was born in Jersey City and raised in North Arlington.

She was a graduate of Queen of Peace High School, received her undergraduate degree in Physics and Electrical Engineering from the University of Scranton and received her M.B.A. from Rutgers University School of Business. During her career as an engineer, she was employed by several corporations all over the country before returning to North Arlington and starting a second career as a math teacher at North Arlington High School.

She is survived by parents Charles and Mary (nee McMahon), siblings Karen, Mark and his wife, Rita and Neil and his wife, Bonnie. She is also survived by nieces and nephews Jeffrey, Zachary, Brooke, Brian, Tara and Andrew as well as extended family and close friends.

On April 30, relatives and friends attended the funeral from Parow Funeral Home and the funeral mass from Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, both in North Arlington.

The family would appreciate donations made to the American Cancer Society (Colon Cancer Research), 20 Mercer St., Hackensack, NJ 07601 in her memory.
