Youth competitors hit the track running hard

The Rutherford Recreation Track & Field team held its first meet on Sunday, April 13, at Saddle Brook High School. Over 62 children participated in the first meet with many placing within the top six in their events.

Aizad Ahmed placed fifth in the boys intermediate 100-meter dash (15.20) and took sixth in the 800-meter (3:02.70). Rovert Barbaro took second place for youth shot put (28-11.75). April Belfielf placed third in the intermediate girls 100-meter (14.55). Seong Joo Cho took fifth place in the sub-bantam girls 800-meter race walk (6:24.84). Raymond Fleck took fifth place in the youth boys turbo-javelin throwing (48-01.00). Sarah Hughes placed fourth in the sub-bantam girls 100-meter (17.40) and took sixth in the long jump (6-02.50). Emma Knight took fifth place in the midget girls 800-meter race walk (5:50.30) and her sister Kaitlin Knight placed fourth in the youth turbo javeling throwing (48-08.00). John Luzzi placed fourth in the youth boys shot put (21-04.75). Patrick McDonough placed fifth in youth shot put (21-01.50). Paul Moh ran 12.30 in the youth 100-meter dash, winning him a third place medal. Ryan O’Sullivan placed second in sub-bantam 800-meter race walk (6:09.72). Summer Regan took home a second place medal for bantam girls turbo javelin (28-02.00). Alec Reimon jumped 6-09.00 to place fifth in sub-bantam long jump. Diana Sciancalepore took home fifth place for youth 800-meter race walk (5:36.31) and Matthew Toole took first place for intermediate boys turbo javelin (68-00.00). This year the program has over 100 athletes participating under the direction of Coach Tim Regan.
