Ann Richardson Lewis
Ann Richardson Lewis of Kearny passed away March 31. She was 88 years old. Mrs. Lewis was born in Fifeshire, Scotland and moved to Kearny when she was four years old.
She attended St. Cecilia’s Elementary and was the valedictorian for the first graduating class of North Arlington High School in 1937. She attended Panzer College in East Orange and worked at L. Bamberger & Co. for five years. She also worked at Stern’s Department store and in 1983 became a direct service staff member for North Hudson Council for the Handicapped in Kearny, where she worked for 15 years.
Mrs. Lewis is predeceased by husband Roswell Eldridge Lewis. She is survived by sons Michael and his wife, Karen, of Austin, MN, Bruce of Kearny, Gary of Fort Lauderdale, FL, Ross and his wife, Annie, of St. Louis Park, MN, Robert and his wife, Renee, of Chapel Hill, NC, Rochard and his wife Paulette of Austin, MN and Gregory and his wife, Barbara, of Upper Montclair. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Private services were held under the direction of Parow Funeral Home in North Arlington.

Allen L. Wallerstein
RUTHERFORD-Allen L. Wallerstein of Rutherford passed away Saturday, April 5. He was 76 years old. Mr. Wallerstein was born in Brooklyn until he moved to Rutherford, where he lived for over 50 years.
As a self employed salesman, he worked in the real estate and mortgage industries for most of his life, retiring in 2005. He was a private pilot flying mostly out of Teterboro and Caldwell airports for both business and pleasurer He was a member of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA) and the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA).
Mr. Wallerstein is predeceased by wife Elmire (nee Hedge). He is survived by sons Robert Wallerstein and his wife, Donna and James Wallerstein and his wife, Bebe. He is also survived by grandchildren Wade, Violet and Owen.
On April 12, relatives and friends were received form Collins-Calhoun Funeral Home in Rutherford. Services followed.
John E. Simpson
RUTHERFORD-John E. Simpson of Rutherford passed away Monday, April 7. He was 85 years old. Mr. Simpson was born in Sommerville, MA.
He worked as a chief operation supervisor for Honeywell, Inc. He was a member of the Boiling Springs Masonic Lodge, IBEW, Tin Can Sailors, the Naval Memorial Foundation and the Order of the Eastern Star Rutherford Chapter No. 24.
Mr. Simpson is predeceased by son-in-law Brain MacLean. He is survived by wife Ruth (nee Belyea) and daughters Nancy MacLean, Carol Simpson Kalb and her husband, Neil and Mary Ellen Penna and her husband, Paul. He is also survived by grandchildren Tammy Ciminesi, Jeffrey MacLean, Jonathan Kalb, Andrew Kalb, Michelle Penna, Kelly Penna and Amy Penna and great-grandson Aiden Ciminesi.
On April 10, relatives and friends attended the funeral service from Rutherford Congregational Church. The service was followed by interment in New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen, NH. Arrangements were made by Collins-Calhoun Funeral Home in Rutherford.

Valentino Moretto
Valentino "Val" Moretto of Toms River passed away Tuesday, April 8. He was 74 years old. Mr. Moretto was born and raised in New York City, lived in Queens for two years, lived in Lyndhurst for 45 years and has been a resident of Toms River for two years.
He was an Army Veteran serving in The Korean Conflict (1954-56). He worked as a route driver for Wonder Bread Company in Carlstadt for 35 years, retiring in 1996.
Mr. Moretto is predeceased by brothers Rocco, Charles, Anthony, and Jerry Moretto. He is survived by wife Dorothy (nee Atkinson) Moretto and children Michael Moretto and his wife, Kathy, of Vernon, Steven Moretto and his wife, Becki, of Lincoln Park and Diane Capria and her husband, Al. of Nutley. He is also survived by grandchildren Christina, Michelle, Allison, Steven, Justin, Jason, Alyssa and Carissa Moretto and Janel and Tori Reyes.
On April 11, relatives and friends attended the funeral from Nazare Memorial Home and then the funeral mass from St. Michael’s RC Church, both in Lyndhurst. A private cremation was held.
Paul Kanow
Paul "Paulie Corbo" Kanow of Hackensack passed away Wednesday, April 9. He was 63 years old. Mr. Kanow was born in Bronx, NY.
He was a jeweler at Corbo Jewelers in Rutherford for over 20 years.
Mr. Kanow is survived by sister Barbara Marr and her husband, Robert, and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his best friends and drinking buddies.
