Xanadu gunman still at large

A gunman who entered the Meadowalnds Xanadu site this morning is still on the loose and may have left the premises, according to state police. At 8:30 a.m., state police received a report from a female security guard at the complex that a man showed her a gun and walked in after she refused to allow him to enter for not having proper identification, according to Stephen Jones, a spokesman for the New Jersey State Police. The entertainment and shopping center, currently under construction, was partially evacuated by police.
As of 11 a.m., police had not found the man. East Rutherford police, state troopers and a canine unit responded to the scene. See the April 16 edition of the South Bergenite for further developments on this morning's incident.
