Walter Sylvester Meany

Walter Sylvester Meany of Cary, NC passed away March 17. He was 82 years old. Mr. Meany was born in Passaic and lived in Clifton before moving to Cary, NC in 1991.

He was an Army WWII Veteran and a former member of the Knights of Columbus, third degree, in Jersey City. For 20 years, he was a machinist for American Can Co. in Jersey City, retiring in 1975. He was then a machinist at Fein Container Corp. in Saddle Brook for 15 years, retiring in 1990.

Mr. Meany is predeceased by brother Bernard A. Meany. He is survived by wife Carole (nee Lamanna) Meany of Cary, NC, and children Patricia Meany of Cary, NC, Walter Meany of Green Pond, James Meany and his wife, Cyn-Thea, of Wood-Ridge and Thomas Meany and his wife, Judith, of Rochelle Park. He is also survived by grandchildren Heather Krawiec, Kyle Meany, Sarah Meany, Kira Meany, Connor Meany and Julia Meany and brother Msgr. Thomas L. Meany of Corpus Christi, TX.

On March 25, relatives and friends attended the funeral from Kimak Funeral Home in Carlstadt and then the funeral mass from Assumption Church in Wood-Ridge. The services were followed by interment in Calvary Cemetery in Paterson.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis, TN 38105-1942.

Stuart Speake

EAST RUTHERFORD-Stuart Speake of East Rutherford passed away March 27. He was 70 years old. Mr. Speake was born in England and came to East Rutherford in 1949.

For 12 years, he was a sales service manager for Rand Display in Teaneck, retiring in 2003. He was an Air Force Veteran and a former director of both the Townsmen Drum Corp. of Wood-Ridge and the Royal Brigade Drum Crop. of the Meadowlands.

Mr. Speake is predeceased by sister Margaret Rigby. He is survived by wife Sybil M. Speak (nee Leech) of East Rutherford and children Patricia Speake Martin of Woodcliff Lake, Glen W. Speake of Oregon, Richard Lee Speake of East Rutherford and Diane E. Main of California. He is also survived by grandchildren Meredith, Alyssa and Jillian Martin, Candice, Patrick and Andrew Speake and Alison and Cameron Main, siblings Brian Speake of Wallington and Eileen Galka of Pennsylvania and several nieces and nephews.

On March 31, relatives and friends attended the memorial service at Christ United Methodist Church in East Rutherford. A private cremation was held. Arrangements were made by the Kimak Funeral Home.

Dolores G. Caci

Dolores G. Caci (nee Hughes) of Coconut Creek, FL, passed away March 31. She was 75 years old. Mrs. Caci was born in Union City and lived in East Rutherford for 35 years before moving to Coconut Creek.

 She was a homemaker.  

Mrs. Caci is survived by sons Michael Caci and his wife, Sharron and Carl Caci Jr. She is also survived by granddaughters Ashley and Maria Caci. 

On April 4, relatives and friends attended the funeral from the Macagna-Diffily-Onorato Funeral Home in Rutherford on and then the funeral mass from St. Joseph R.C. Church of East Rutherford. The services were followed by interment in Holy Cross Cemetery,  North Arlington.

Patricia A. Evans

NORTH ARLINGTON-Patricia A. Evans (nee Keane) of North Arlington passed away March 31. She was 74 years old. Mrs. Evans was born in Kearny and was a life long resident of North Arlington.

She worked as a telephone operator for New Jersey Bell in Rutherford for 30 years before retiring 16 years ago. She also worked in the cafeteria at North Arlington High School for many years. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, the Henrietta Benstead Senior Citizens of Kearny and a longtime parishioner of Queen of Peace Church in North Arlington.

Mrs. Evans is predeceased by husband Kenneth J. She is survived by children Kenneth and his wife, Mimi, of Kearny, Arthur and his wife, Diane, of Boca Raton, FL and Michael and his wife, Elizabeth, of Oakland and grandchildren Brian, Shannon, Kyle, Christopher and Derek. She is also survived by brothers Jack and Robert Albers and many relatives and friends.

On April 5, relatives and friends attended the funeral from Parow Funeral Home and then the funeral mass from Queen of Peace Church, both in North Arlington. The services were followed by interment in Holy Cross Cemetery, also in North Arlington.

The family would appreciate donations made to the North Arlington Volunteer Emergency Squad, P.O. Box 788, North Arlington, NJ 07031 in her memory.

Aldo Palmeri

RUTHERFORD-Aldo Palmeri of Rutherford passed away April 1. He was 83 years old. Mr. Palmeri was born in Palmero, Sicily and moved to the U.S. in 1947.

He was a civil engineer for Ebasco Services Inc. of New York City and was a life long member of The Civil Engineers Association.

Mr. Palmeri is predeceased by son Gregory Palmeri. He is survived by wife Gladyce (nee Gillespie) and children Maria Palmeri Martinez and her husband, Jose and Christopher Palmeri and his wife, Susan Leibowitz. He is also survived by siblings Saro Palmeri M.D., Clara D'Eredita and Guilia Palmeri and granddaughter Eva Palmeri.

On April 4, relatives and friends attended the funeral from Macagna Diffily Onorato Funeral Home and then the funeral mass from St. Mary RC Church, both in Rutherford. The services were followed by interment in Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne, N.Y.

Edward A. Moszczynski

LYNDHURST-Edward A. Moszczynzki of Lyndhurst passed away April 1. He was 79 years old. Mr. Moszczynski was born and raised in Jersey City and has been a resident of Lyndhurst since 1950.

He was an Army Veteran who served in The Korean Conflict (1951-53). He was an owner and pharmacist of Pastor Pharmacy, Englewood for 30 years, retiring in 1984. He was a member and past president of Don Bosco Alumni Association, where he graduated high school in Ramsey and was inducted into its Hall of Fame in 1998. He was a member of Holy Name Society of St. Michael’s Church and the Knights of Columbus #2396, both of Lyndhurst.

Mr. Moszcynski is predeceased by brother Anthony Moszczynski and sister Mary Zaorski. He is survived by wife of Anna T. (nee Rupinski) Moszczynski, children Joseph Moszczynski of Newton, Elizabeth Linn of Lyndhurst, Mark Moszczynski of Stockholm, Josephine Coyne of Long Beach, NY and Catherine Lee of Freehold and sisters Blanche Melski of WI and Frances Moeller of SC. He is also survived by seven grandchildren.

On April 5, relatives and friends attended the funeral from Nazare Memorial Home and then the funeral mass from Saint Michael’s RC Church, both in Lyndhurst. The services were followed by interment in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.

Thomas R. Verrastro

CARLSTADT-Thomas Rocco Verrastro of Carlstadt passed away March 30. He was 57 years old. Mr. Verrastro was a lifelong resident of Carlstadt.

He was a glass installer for Mildoor Assemblers in Hackensack for over 10 years, retiring in 2005.

Mr. Verrastro is predeceased by father Rocco A. Verrastro. He is survived by mother Elsie Verrastro (nee Curran) of Carlstadt. He is survived by brothers Michael A. Verrastro of Florida, Edward P. Verrastro of Wood-Ridge and Steven Verrastro of Florida.

On April 3, relatives and friends attended the memorial service from Kimak Funeral Home in Carlstadt. A private cremation was held.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
