Parents to get second chance to vote on uniform policy
(by Corey Klein - April 07, 2008)
North Arlington parents have another chance to give their opinion on a uniform policy to the school board. In order to implement a school uniform policy in the elementary schools, the district must have the support of 70 percent of elementary school parents.
While the first survey, sent to parents last month, received adequate support, the board will send out another survey with the April report cards in hopes of garnering more responses.
The school uniform would only include a polo shirt, according to the board. The board will purchase the first shirt for each student and provide uniforms for ecomincally disadvantaged students as needed. The board must receive support from 75 percent of elementary school parents this time around before a policy would be implemented. Surveys will be sent home on April 11 and will be due back no later than April 17, according to the board.
