Marian E. Nowicki
NORTH ARLINGTON-Marian E. Nowicki (nee Heba) of North Arlington passed away March 14. She was 95 years old. Mrs. Nowicki was born in Poland and lived in Jersey City before moving to North Arlington 10 years ago.
She worked for the J.F. Gould Insurance Company in New York City before retiring in 1988. She was a member of the Moose Lodge #1291 of Jersey City.
Mrs. Nowicki is predeceased by husband Edmund. She is survived by daughter Patricia Walsh of Lyndhurst, grandchildren Lois A. Mezer of North Arlington, Anthony Gentile of Wood-Ridge and George Gentile of Jersey City and great-grandchildren Tamaryn, Cherise, Jason, Alexis and George. She is also survived by siblings Walter Heba, Martin Heba, Regina Betlow and Blanche Kneerr, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
On March 19, relatives and friends attended the funeral from Parow Funeral Home then the funeral mass from Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, both in North Arlington. The services were followed by interment in Holy Cross Chapel Mausoleum, also in North Arlington.
Patricia J. Taylor
LYNDHURST-Patricia J. Taylor (nee Zollo) of Lyndhurst passed away Friday, March 14. She was 62 years old. Mrs. Taylor was born in Manchester, NH, and has been a resident of Lyndhurst for 54 years.
She worked as an administrative assistant for Winebow, Inc., Montvale for seven years.
Mrs. Taylor is predeceased by mother Annette (nee Kelly) Zollo. She is survived by father Louis M. Zollo of Lyndhurst, siblings, Louis Zollo and his wife, Nancy, of Belleville, Mary Beth Petronio and her husband, Matt, of Nazareth, PA, Nancy Trotter and her husband, Joe of Flanders and Eileen Frost and her husband, Russ, of Hackettstown. She is also survived by nieces and nephews, Greg and Kelly Trotter, Stacey and Scott Buchanan, David Oehlmann, Katie Zollo, Lindsey Trotter, Timothy Oehlmann, Michael Zollo, Jessica Trotter and Jonathan Trotter and great-nieces Morgan and Riley Trotter.
On March 17 relatives and friends attended the funeral from Nazare Memorial Home, Inc., then the funeral mass from Sacred Heart Church, both in Lyndhurst. The services were followed by interment in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Chester.

Alexander J. Mastando
LYNDHURST-Alexander J. Mastando of Lyndhurst passed away Thursday, March 13. He was 65 years old. Mr. Mastando was born and raised in Manhattan and has lived in Lyndhurst for the past 41 years.
He worked for Gothom Graphics in Lyndhurst for over 20 years, then became Owner of AMA Graphics of Fairfield and West Paterson for 20 years, retiring in 2000.
Mr. Mastando is survived by wife, Barbara A. (nee Steakin) Mastando of Lyndhurst, children Alexander Jr. of Lyndhurst, Barbara De Klein of Sparta, Anthony Mastando of Whippany and Michael Mastando of Wayside. He is also survived by grandchildren Brandon and Justin Smith, Alex III, Arielle, Matthew, Madison and Alyssa Mastando, sisters Serafina Pistorino and Constance Kissler and nephews Alex and Vinny Pistorino.
On March 18, relatives and friends attended the funeral from Nazare Memorial Home, Inc. then to the funeral mass from Our Lady Mount Carmel Church, both in Lyndhurst. The services were followed by interment in Holy Cross Chapel Mausoleum, North Arlington.

William L. Norville
William L. Norville 96 of Oakton VA, passed away March 15. He was 96 years old. Mr. Norville was born in Scranton, PA and lived in Rutherford before moving to Oakton.
He was a machinist for Westinghouse in Jersey City for many years.
Mr. Norville is predeceased by wife Madeline. He is survived by son William P. and his wife, Margaret and siblings George and Alice. He is also survived by grandsons Matthew and Scott.
On March 19, relatives and friends attended the funeral service from Macagna Diffily Onorato Funeral Home in Rutherford. The service was followed by interment in Hillside Cemetery, Lyndhurst.
Richard Gianfrancesco
RUTHERFORD-Richard Gianfrancesco, known as "The Chief and The Ganz," of Rutherford passed away March 15. He was 80 years old. Mr. Gianfrancesco was born in the Bronx, NY and moved to Rutherford in 1936.
He was an Army Veteran and was employed by AT&T as an installation tech for 22 years. He held memberships in the Lyndhurst Elk’s Lodge, the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) and the Amalgated Lace Operators of America (AOLA).
Mr. Gianfrancesco is predeceased by parents Mariano and Florence Reiher Gianfrancesco. He is survived by wife Willie Lee (nee Coffey) and daughters Donna and her husband, Mark Masar, Marianne and her husband, Kevin Pendleton and Barbara and her husband, Carlos Molina. He is also survived by grandchildren Matt, Rachel, Cristina, Dennis, Jennifer and Gianna and sister Blossom and her husband, Ed Kirby, and their sons Glen, Donald and Robert Kirby.
On March 19, relatives and friends attended the funeral from Collins-Calhoun Funeral Home in Rutherford. The service was followed by interment in Woodlawn Cemetery in Bronx, NY.
John A. Griffin
John A. Griffin, of Ft. Myers, FL passed away March 10. He was 85 years old. Mr. Griffin was born in Jersey City and lived in North Arlington, Cedar Grove, and Seattle, WA before moving to Ft. Myers 23 years ago. He also kept a dual residence in Ripley, WV from 1986-2000.
He worked as a manager of the Advanced Electrical Sales in Seattle, WA, for eight years before retiring in 1985. He served in the Army Air Corp. during WWII. He was a member of the VFW Cedar Grove Post #6255 and the American Legion Cape Coral Post #90, FL.
Mr. Griffin is survived by wife Helen R. (nee Perrine) and daughters Jacqueline Goodwin, Joyce Ann Wohlrab and Janice Marie Toyoda. He is also survived by grandchildren Catherine, Jaime and Griffin and sister Kathleen Salek.
On March 17, relatives and friends attended the funeral from Parow Funeral Home and then the funeral mass from Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, both in North Arlington. The services were followed by interment in Holy Cross Cemetery, also in North Arlington.

Dorothy M. Matticola
NORTH ARLINGTON-Dorothy M. Matticola (nee Connerty) of North Arlington passed away March 12. She was 78 years old. Mrs. Matticola was born in Jersey City and lived in Jersey City and Franklin Township before moving to North Arlington 30 years ago.
She is predeceased by husband Robert N. Mrs. Matticola is survived by children Robert and his wife, Linda, of Wall and grandchildren James and Catharine. She is also survived by sisters Mary Piscal of North Arlington and Betty Ruane of Hackettstown and many nieces and nephews.
Private funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Parow Funeral Home in North Arlington. A memorial mass will be announced at a later date.

Elizabeth Wallace
RUTHERFORD-Elizabeth "Betty" Wallace of Rutherford passed away Tuesday, March 18. She was 100 years old. Mrs. Wallace was born in Holmdel and was a lifelong resident of Rutherford.
She was a homemaker and took great pride in caring for her family. She was a member of Grace Episcopal Church in Rutherford.
Mrs. Wallace is predeceased by husband Jack H. Wallace Sr., the famous football Rutherfordian. She is survived by sons Jack Wallace Jr. and Robert Wallace. She is also survived by six grandchildren and 14 great-granchildren.
A private funeral service was held. Arrangements were made by the Collins-Calhoun Funeral Home in Rutherford.

Thomas Schneider
RUTHERFORD-Thomas Schneider of Rutherford passed away March 17. He was 55 years old. Mr. Schneider was born in Newark and was a life long resident of Rutherford.
He was a graduate of Rutgers University and worked for Jewel Precision in Cedar Grove as a Quality Control manager.
Mr. Schneider is predeceased by parents Albert and Anne. He is survived by brother John and his wife, Deborah.
On March 21, relatives and friends attended the funeral from Macagna Diffily Onorato in Rutherford. A private burial was held.
Rose M. Hansen
LYNDHURST-Rose M. Hansen (nee Bertelli) of Lyndhurst passed away Monday, March 17. She was 96 years old. Mrs. Hansen was born in Hoboken and has been a resident of Lyndhurst for 25 years.
She worked as a clerk for First National Bank in Jersey City for 20 years before retiring.
Mrs. Hansen is predeceased by husband Walter Hansen and son George Hansen. She is survived by daughters, Joan Reddington and her husband, Leo, of Waldwick and Margaret O’Connor and her husband, George, of Sparta. She is also survived by six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Carmela Lanzellotta
EAST RUTHERFORD-Carmela Lanzellotta (nee Romano) of East Rutherford passed away March 12. She was 74 years old. Mrs. Lanzellotta was born in Italy and lived in East Rutherford since 1963.
She was a food prep cook for Jerry’s Restaurant in East Rutherford for 12 years, retiring in 1998. She was a parishioner of St. Joseph’s Church.
Mrs. Lanzellotta is predeceased by two brothers. She is survived by husband Carlo Lanzellotta of East Rutherford and children Anthony Lanzellotta and his wife, Jackie, of East Rutherford and AnnaMarie Natale and her husband, Matthew, of Clifton. She is also survived by grandchildren Anthony Jr., Michael, Julianna and Daniel, three brothers and one sister, of Italy.
On March 18, relatives and friends attended the funeral from Kimak Funeral Home in Carlstadt and then the funeral mass from St. Joseph’s R.C. Church in East Rutherford. The services were followed by interment in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.

Grace M. Crawford
EAST RUTHERFORD-Grace M. Crawford (nee Sweeney) of East Rutherford passed away March 12. She was 84 years old. Mrs. Crawford lived in Bayonne before moving to East Rutherford eight years ago.
She was an account representative for Blue Cross and Blue Shield for 30 years, retiring in 1986.
Mrs. Crawford is predeceased by husband Harold Crawford and sister Jeannette Reed. She is survived by daughter Sharon Slocum of PA, grandchildren Elaine Lago of East Rutherford and Arthur Reinitz and great-grandchildren Kaeley and Nicholas. She is also survived by Bernard D. Sweeney of MD and sister Mary Jane O’Connell of Bayonne.
On March 14, relatives and friends attended the memorial mass from St. Joseph’s R.C. Church in East Rutherford. A private cremation was held. Arrangements were made by the Kimak Funeral Home in Carlstadt.
Alphonse J. Pierro
CARLSTADT-Alphonse J. Pierro of Carlstadt passed away March 16. He was 90 years old. Mr. Pierro was born in Jersey City and lived in Carlstadt for 58 years.
He was an Army WWII Veteran. For over 25 years, he was a truck driver for People’s Express in Paterson, retiring in 1975. He was a parishioner of St. Joseph’s Church, a teamster of Local 560 and a former member of the American Legion in Hasbrouck Heights, the Elks Lodge of Wayne and the Knights of Columbus.
Mr. Pierro is predeceased by wife Helen Pierro, one brother and two sisters. He is survived by children Nancy Pollitto and her husband, Robert, of Colts Neck and David Pierro and his wife, Barbara, of East Rutherford. He is also survived by grandchildren Melissa and Daurie.

Dorothy A. Verdi
Dorothy A. "Dotty" Verdi (nee Dean) of Little Ferry passed away March 14. She was 49 years old. Mrs. Verdi was born in Newark and lived in Carlstadt before moving to Little Ferry in 1986.
She was an x-ray technician and did medical billing for M.K. Billing in Secaucus for 10 years, retiring in 2003. She was a parishioner of St. Joseph’s Church and a former member of the Carlstadt Ambulance Corps.
Mrs. Verdi is predeceased by parents Richard and Dorothy Dean (nee Mackey) and sister Barbara Goworek. She is survived by husband Ralph C. Verdi and children Dominick Verdi and Valerie Verdi, all of Little Ferry. She is also survived by sisters Patricia Elliott and her husband, Jerry, of Ohio and Debbie Foy and her husband, Richard, of Carlstadt, nieces Barbara and Heather and nephews Richie, Louis and Charles.
