This photo of the Rutherford train station in the 1920s shows an advertisement for William Black & Co., a Park Avenue hardware store that dated back to the nineteenth century. Black was known for his unique branding: goods were wrapped in black paper and black boxes delivered to customers in black wagons pulled by black horses. Also shown is a billboard reflecting houses for sale with a starting price of $5,000.
